Last year he was playing the Rance roll to perfection.
This year? The oppo are rendering him a non event.
Reckon he's taken about 2 intercept marks for the season.
Like everyone else he's off his game.
When a trooper like Dylan is struggling you know there are big issues.

Half the coaches in the league will have spent the summer working out how to beat us. Would be arrogance to think that none have been able come up with at least a partial answer.

Really disappointing game last night. Can’t remember him playing that badly. And undisciplined. That soft down field free he gave away was really poor form. It was unnecessary and achieved nothing apart from giving the Saints another goal.

Lift Dylan.

Not out of form. Opposition have taken away his one wood - free reign to impact the contest and control the back half. Our defenders are the best in the business working as a unit but they are being spread across the back half making to defend one on one.

This is true, but this begins with our midfield, with no pressure there the oppo just lace thier fwds out too easily. We need to start applying pressure there to force them to kick long to a contest. We thrive on that

Hard to blame our key backs when we're turning the ball over so much. Grimes obviously had a job last night but gee how do you defend when opposition are streaming down unmarked? The solution is simple, get the skill level up, stop the rubbish kicks straight to the opposition, stop the grubber and missed handballs and the rest will sort itself out.

The backline is a unit not individuals.

Removing Broad from it for large parts hurts the structure.

BUt more importantly having the ball coming in at a rate of knots every second minute doesn't help.

The lack of forward defensive pressure and midfield presssure and tackle poressure and run is killing us and killing the Backline, they have been pretty good this season under the hammer.

Easily the best of the 3 divisions on the park, the mids and forwards have been *smile* poor.

You don't think Broad is better played in his natural position in the ruck???

Grimes was another who showed better signs this week & had his best game since the restart.
Seemed to be able to influence the contest more in a similar way to last season.
Hope he follows it up next week.

Melksham might be staying in the Richmond hub. If not he might want to get out of Grimes back pocket.

i was wondering whether having Balta down back and playing so well helped Grimes get back into some form.

It would've helped, but dont forget Dave was playing well.
Grimes is a #3 or floater who is post rance playing as #1 deep defender. It worked last year but clubs now know to keep him isolated and oversize him

I reckon having the athletic Balta in the team will help fix that and bring Grimes back into the game
