Nathan Ablett, Michael Coad, Marc Lock, and Jack Stanlake along with rookie listed players Roland Ah Chee, Jake Crawford, Jack Stanley and Joel Tippett were informed of the clubs decision this morning.

Any love for anyone on that list?

I'm surprised about Lock. Wasn't he captain last year? Something really bad must have happened for him to drop off so much.

I wonder how much of Nablett's salary was tied-in to Gazza's?

I wouldn't mind Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner, but only because I like his name.

Yep he was and then only managed 1 game this year.
GCS supporters on BF have 2 trains of thought, one he's just not good enough and is destined to be a good VFL type and the other was he was unhappy that after training hard and attending every session that he was been over looked in favour of a few who may not have being putting in the same effort.

Both are very believable, did Bluey get it so wrong?

Lock was their Captain ( or leadership group) before they entered the comp.

A shame Coad is so injury prone, he slots straight into AFL (being a bit older) - he played very well early for the Suns.

Lock a noticible absentee (along with Ablett) from the boys group at Mermaid Beach Tavern Sunday night, having shots and beer but behaving themselves (at least at 9pm anyway). Campbell Brown & Josh Fraser being very responsible watching over the "kids"

Did they take the kiddies for a spot of putt putt too?

Correct, former Victorian who had been up here a couple of years, has a twin brother. Was nominated by the initial group to the role of Captain. Saw him play, rarely ever got to play midfield which was his strength, just lacked enough vertsatility and how can a kid usurp Gary Ablett, Rischa, Swallow and Harris (earlier on) and have no other position at which he seemed to excel. Did OK more recently for their seconds side and even up to two weeks ago was expecting another seniors run - but Bluey had a line through his name for more than just football.

No second gigs for anyone there.

Nathan Ablett really shot himself in the foot.

Playing at a club at Geelong where he was on track to being a very good player. His two games for GC looked like total token gestures to satisfy big brother.

You would think he must have some regrets.

Seems he decided he cared enough about football a little too late :p

I thought Nathan ablett would be a good fit. McKenna says he lost his pace?

Said the game had gotten faster, same outcome I suppose. Simple truth is that Nathan Ablett never wanted to play football but was almost forced to because of the family name. He refused to play TAC Cup, refused Geelong, then walked out on them. Think the guy just wants to be a tradie and go fishing and have a kick on the weekend with his mates on some country oval somewhere.

Precisely. At Geelong, I always thought he's thinking "I'll do this to shut every one up". He did it, got a Premiership medal, went up to the Gold Coast to chill out, lo & behold, Gazza decides to come up too.He must've thought "I wish Gaz didn't say he really wants to play with me again, I wanna go fishin" Did nothing playing for Broadbeach let alone the Suns reserves last year or this year until 2 rounds to go, kicked a couple. Bluey talks him up that he's ready, thendrops him soon after. All to appease GA no doubt about that. Back to QAFL son, that's your go.
