Having got back from Brisbane this morning and sleeping most of the afternoon (I left Melb at 6.00am yesterday and Bris at 8.00am today). I will offer some interesting observations about a very interesting game I went to at a very interesting place called the Gabba.

Let me see..

Getting to the Gabba - my hotel is in the centre of Bris - as part of the package TIgerland Travel don't give you trasnfers to the game - they expect you to walk. They tell me it will take about 15 minutes. Schucks in reality the hotel tell me it will only take me 45 to 50 minutes - interesting.

I grab a cab to get to the game instead. I say to the Gabba please the cabbie says "how do I get there?". I say your the cab driver - in a word interesting.

I get to the ground I have a pre-purchased ticket with no bar-code. They don't have bar-code readers at the gates. They have people looking at each ticket and ripping the butt off them. Archaic - but interesting.

The Umpiring: it was interesting

The phones in the RFC coaches box not working: interesting.

The bloke sitting in front of me who with his clear and concise use of the terms dud, you are weak, and of course you should be sacked(primarily directed to Leon Cameron, Richo, Bowden and Danny Frawley at the breaks) had me wondering whether it was Diggles, Laff, Harry or FUD. Was it ??? Interesting ;)

Game highlights:

Dragga's comeback - sensational. thought he was terrific the way he went in hard. Not worrying about his knees.

Dutchy - clear lacking match fitness (AFL level) and at times couldn't keep pace with the game. He always looks slow to me but he looked really slow at times last night. But hopefully the run will do him the world of good

Richo - as I have said I haven't seen the replay and I doubt whether it showed up on TV but his captaining effort this time round was a lot better than against Carlton. He was talking and encouraging - good sign I thought.

I take it you didn't enter any of the grimy local establishments Koalalill. They are, in a word, interesting.

I only saw Holland in the second half - he looked OK, but from what I heard he got absolutely belted by Lynch early on. As each week goes by, the void left by Gaspar gets bigger.

It wasn't me KL - I wouldn't waste money on airfare tickets to see a bunch of disorganised fools running around. I could just watch re-runs of the Benny Hill show if I wanted to do so.

I've been to the Gabba a couple of times and love it. Especially day games because the stadium is so colorful.
I found the place warm and welcoming.
They used the scoreboard to welcome opposition supporters both times. A bit different than the way they used it at the OO.
After the G, the Gabba would be my favourite ground to watch footy at.
I stayed in the city centre too, but public transport takes you right outside the ground.
I also won $800 in the casino up there. Beginners luck, ha.
And seeing I had the next morning to fill in waiting for my flight I spent every cent on presents for the kids.
I have good memories of the Gabba, and also a 50/50 winning record there.
Yeah I like the place. :)

Having been to AAMI, Telstra Stadium in Sydney and now the Gabba, I will say nothing comes near the MCG.

As for the 3 above - I'd take Telstra Stadium.

Rosy,

There was no welcome on the scoreboard but they were nice enough to put the words to the song up on the board.

During the course of the game they din't even put up progress scores of the Pies -v- Dogs (al least they do that in Adel). I actually phoned 3AW after the match to find out the scores and was put on the air and scored a $100.00 Tatts Pokie Voucher or something.
