At 144th or whatever he is for putts between 3 and 8 feet, he should maybe worry about his own putting.
Indeed, though he was good last week except for "the" put in the playoff.

Adam Scott struck 54 putts inside of 5 feet for the week at the Wyndham Championship. He holed 53 of them.

Unfortunately for the former major champion, the one miss came in the biggest of moments — and it was brutally costly.

Yeah I know. But he was back to his usual or “the putt” form today. That photo I posted, the very next hole he missed a straight, 6 footer for birdie.

He’s atrocious in the 3 foot to 8 foot range.

Spieth and Shaufflle both shoot 62 in 2nd Rd of Northern Trust. Spieth only takes 21 putts.
a pretty handy leaderboard

Cam Smith shot -11 60 is the Clubhouse leader at -16 during the 3rd Round
4th Round has been postponed till Monday (Tuesday here) with a Tropical Storm on the way

Went out for a trundle Friday , played a few holes with a bloke I used to play with as a young bloke, he’s 60 now , plays off 5 , most of his life he’s played of 9-10 , still using the ping eye 2s hid used as long as I’ve known him, however has a reasonably new titliest driver , I’d say he hits it 30 metres further then he did as a 30 year old ( swing has not changed) point been Drivers and balls go so much further now and the handicap system I’m convinced is 4 to 5 shots different then the original.

Also had a hit with a guy who has played on mini tours basically for around 20 years , played in a few Aus Opens but nothing bigger then that , not even the Korn ferry , however has made a really good living , bloody amazing how much money is in golf . Very good golfer , just shows how good the PGA guys are

Pretty easy course for these guys without wind, but regardless, 21 putts is just insane.
Spieth 2021 PGA stats.
185th in driving accuracy
70th Driving distance
118th in GIR
7th in Birdies
2nd in Fedex points
Short game whiz. Gives you hope that you don't need to hit it miles and straight to succeed. 80% practice should be on the short game?

His problem is though he puts so much pressure on his short game all the time that when it breaks down, he’s horrendous. Fortunately that doesn’t happen too often but for a couple of years there it did whilst he tried to work out his swing.

He has a sort of tiny lateral slide and reverse or vertical shoulder tilt. He’s always had it since he was a junior along with a bent left arm. But it leads to big time inconsistentcy when his hands and timing and talent don’t adjust for it.

Check this photo out. You can sort of see his weight and shoulders stay on top of his left side at the top of his swing.

Spieth shot 8 over today.....

He has some fundamental flaws in his swing that confidence and being young have masked over. But as time has gone by they’ve surfaced under the gun and he’s struggled the last couple of years.

There’s a good hour long video of him on the range in Texas with his coach Cameron McCormick (Australian). He still hits it pure but they talk about and work on his struggles to turn away from the ball - particularly with the longer clubs.

Whats your take on Smith off the tee? His iron play and short game is flawless.

Well, I haven’t watched the final round at Liberty yet but you guys have given me the spoiler on it. Sounds like Cam has sprayed it off the tee again when it’s on the line ? He did that at the St Jude a couple of weeks ago too. Twice now in the last couple of weeks. Not good.

He’s 132nd for driving accuracy on Tour. Great short game but his driving can let him down at times.

Moreover, I’ve started to develop a view that Australians aren’t good under the gun. Over the journey we’ve blown a lot of tournaments and majors in final rounds. Not sure if we’re as mentally tough as others. We get in contention a lot, but struggle to close out a lot too.
