Not sure what to say when one likens Australian politicians to murderous dictators. Get back to me when Rudd has a political opponent murdered, then we can talk about how much I disagree with his policies.

Its not the "extreme actions" of them that I liken Rudd/Gillard to.....but their ideology is similar, but just watered down a lot.

Just as Howard's ideology was similar to Pinochet's, just watered down? I'd suggest political discussion would be more productive without the lunatic references to murderous dictators.

If you believe that, then by all means post some correlations for us to all see....just like I did with Rudd quoting Chairman Mao's speech....going down the path of internet filtering censorship, and about another half dozen similarities in ideas and policies.

I don't believe that, just as I don't believe Rudd is a murderous dictator like Mao (please link to the people he has murdered if you believe otherwise). The link between Howard and Pinochet's polices of economic liberalisation (whilst killing people) is certainly stronger than the link between Rudd and Mao's policies of state control of the economy (whilst killing people).

Anyone who likens a mainstream Australian politician to a murderous dictator (left or right) is a lunatic in my books. Shelve the lunacy and perhaps we can talk politics.

mld,
You keep going on about the murdering part....but Mao and Stalin were not all about murdering...they had ideals and philosophies on how their respective countries should be run.
I have said numerous times....while Rudd/Gillard are not "murderous" in their ways as Mao/Stalin were.....their philosophies are very much alike when it comes to policies.
Just think of the ALP now as "Mao Lite - 2009 version" ....a watered down, non-violent version but still with the ideals of control, censorship, and punishing the rich to help the poor to make everyone 'even'.
Socialism.

Ah well, I tried to appeal to the inner sanity that may want to discuss politics, but you have chosen to stick with the lunacy.

If Mao was a murderer and we should not compare Rudd with Mao.....then tell me why would Rudd directly quote from Mao himself?

Thats not lunacy, thats fact.

Is Bolt equally as looney by comparing Thatcher to Gillard then?

Let me know when Rudd has a political opponent murdered.

Not sure about you, but I certainly don't class Thatcher as a murderous dictator.

Luckily, we're in 2009 Australia.....not 1950s China.

So while the violence may be eliminated, the ideals and philosophies are still there though.

Thats what I am getting at.....and why Rudd quoted Chairman Mao.

I think we are all thankful of that.

I'd suggest the violence is inseparable from the ideals and philosophies, and that linking democratically elected politicians to murderous dictators is lunacy. It is similar to Godwin's law, if a point can only be made by linking it to a murderous dictator, it isn't a point at all.

Neither do I.

Then why did you suggest it :-\

The murdering though mate was the 'end means' due to people not adhereing to the ideals/philosophies I am talking about.

While Rudd and co may not use violence to push their agenda.....the agenda itself is still very much socialist with some aspects of it resembling China (eg: internet censorship).

I don't think drawing a correlation between political ideals is lunacy.
