Harry Armstrong

I think he enjoyed his contests against Taru and kept him more accountable as he would know how he plays - good to see that match up in the years to come

Harry is great. So rare to find naturally competitive key position players. Usually it’s something that takes years to develop if at all. We got two of them… from the same draft

The forward line structure in which he played in u18s would have been better than the current structure and system. Not to mention delivery from up the ground.

Very hard gig for a young key forward. Look forward to his tandem with Jonty when we eventually get better.

He's such an interesting case study.

As readers will know - wasnt a fan of him as a top 10 pick (where he was slated for much of the year) in his draft year.

Reckon he went about where he should have.

He has some great traits:

- Kamikaze attack of the footy/man
- Super smart footy IQ - knows when/where to lead - Impossible to teach.
- A build that in time will cause some serious hurt to opposition
- Likely to build aerobic capacity to run all day

Concerns:

- He cant jump or get elevation.
- Has a kicking technique that with his high ball drop, whenever rushed, will cause frustration through his career
- Makes Scott Lucas look ambidextrous.

Elite qualities/smarts and determination vs some athletic and one sided constraints.

Great watch. Has the attitude to make it.

I've seen him take good leaps?

Actually think he's a good shot for goal myself.

Can't believe anyone is questioning his kicking technique when he was taught by Lloyd.

I’m speaking for someone else here but he clearly only called out the technique would be weak when pressured.

Set shots are a different thing.

Armstrong also performed strongly at the AFL Draft Combine, ranking seventh (8.13 seconds) in the agility testing.

With his deadly accuracy and impressive aerial ability, the key forward has drawn a likeness to GWS star Jesse Hogan

Mobile tall forward who is an outstanding contested mark has sure hands on the burst and is a difficult player to contain with his speed on the lead. A long and accurate left-foot kick, he continued to show his match-winning ability with the Sandringham Dragons." - Kevin Sheehan.

Disagree on the cant jump call.

He wont be jumping on anyones shoulders but he is very good pack mark especially when he gets a good run at it.

He can obviously jump a bit.

Just not very high. His marking strength will be leading up or one on one. Not pack situations ILO.

I reckon he has a bit of the Jack Darlings about him. Will fill out and broad across the shoulders. Darling never stood on anyones head but was good on the lead and could take a pack mark using strength and skill

Another Jack of the Gunston variety is probably a similar type too.
