Harry Armstrong

wisely kept his superbootedness to put us in front late in big games?

what a champion he was. got bigger and better the higher the stakes and the more desperate the situation

2018 prelim exhibit A
2022 elimination final too. Kept dragging us back into the game with impossible kicks from the boundary.

A player that can pack mark well and kick goals consistently from 50 (or anywhere really) is huge for mine. Upside potential is massive.
Lloyd said he was happy that in the champs he just played like he has been in every other game. Thats a good wrap. I don't think thats bias, thats just highlighting that everyone should now see what he's been seeing for years.
We forget these kids are barely 18. They have so much time to grow into themselves as players and people.

Jack was never a consistently long kick imo. He hit the odd one for sure but he wasn't a natural super boot
The longer kicks of the game is like golf.
That one club less onto the green makes it so much easier(More accurate)
Thats Armstrongs strength by the looks of it.

Now I know you all want to bag a player that has played 270 games and kicked 926 goals but let's pretend Matthew Lloyd knows what he is talking about:cool::love:

Get ready for the pile on mate :ROFLMAO:
Was amazed at the vitriol towards Lloyd the last time I bought it up. Coaches always over support their players blah blah blah.
I particularly like the bit about splitting packs. You need that aggression as a key forward. And the work rate.

Nank used to be a pretty quiet type too.
Yep. I well remember that time he never said a word to B.T. and somehow managed to get in trouble for it. Just quietly going about his business after a game n people in suits cracked the *smile* at him for minding his own business n keeping out of the way.

Happy to bag Lloydy every day of the week for being a Hymie. But yeah, the prick could play n was a hell of a FF. Biggest asset of a forward is goal kicking reliability yet it rarely seems to be given much credence by so many in football.
Get 6 kicks around the forward half n kick 5 goals = premium.
Get 12 kicks around the forward half n kick 5 goals means ya need to be setting up another bunch of goals to be premium.

I liked this kid but didnt want to spend #11 on him based on only the footage and no live vision
but over the moon with where we picked him. Faull is the selection i was shocked with as i wanted Lindsay / Berry at that pick but Lindsay was gone and berry would have been a great selection but we got Jasper so im ok with that

Harry hasn't really had a lot of hype, but his five-goal Metro vs Country game interested me greatly. Or more specifically, his final few minutes.
He took a big contested mark in the goal square among plenty of defenders and kicked the goal to put Metro in front.
But it was the contested mark between two opponents on the wing a couple of minutes later to maintain vital possession that franked his bonafides for me. Proper beast of a grab.
I haven't heard too much about him over the preseason but I can't wait to watch him play.

Harry Armstrong in the non contested ball movement drills over the pre-season has looked a rolled gold Rolls-Royce and been one grabbing everything a beautiful kick and mover.
Match Sim to date however he has been a bit of a victim of bigger bodies, (for example he found himself on Balta in one match sim), and closed space so yet to find his groove, (this is all fine and a learning process for a young forward).
Bigger grounds will suite, and also when defenders are fixated on the gun forwards like Lynch, all tracking well.

Agreed. Always interesting when a player slides down the draft after being so highly rated.
Yes I think he's good when he can work into space as C has alluded to up above but if opposition put an athletic, physical defender onto him he may have some issues. Think some other lead up fwd's who've come into the system in recent times. It's early days for sure but he's not in the jnr leagues anymore. He's going to have to grow his game a bit.

I have very few doubts on Armstrong at all, will make a great CHF/HF leading up the ground doubling back, I reckon he will learn to work over his opponents and his hurt factor will be good.

We will plug in Simms when Lynch gives it away.

Lalor Lynch Simms Bauer Steely
Seth Armstrong Fawcett Mansel Jasper JNR

I already like more what I see in Jasper than I do in JNR

**I haven't mentioned Faull yet as I haven't seen him train in our environment yet and what his contested marking is like.

The great thing is Armstrong & Simms are mobile and athletic which is a huge plus in forwards for mine.

Time will tell.
