Heath Scotland

Anybody watch Pies v Swans on Saturday night? Heath Scotland played in the midfield, kicked 3 goals, had 20 possesions and was one of the best on ground.
I stand by my comments on this thread earlier, he would be a good acquisition for our club.

What are you talking about Boss, why would we want a goal kicking midfielder. I though we were after another specialist forward.

unfortunately haven't seen enough of Scottland in recent times to make an informed decision, but what I have seen has look okay. At 23 wouldn't want to wait another year though.

Would much rather hear they are chasing POWER though if he is interested in coming back. He would add real grunt to our midfield where as many of the others are outside midfielders which are not a scarce commodity these days. Inside Midfielders are a little harder to find.

I'd definately take Scotland, however I would not want to give up too much for him. Maybe a mid range draft pick or a trade for a player like Hilton.
He's struggling to get a game at Collingwood because they have such a good midfield and none of these guys have been out injured. Buckley, Licuria, Woewodin, O'Bree, Holland (in a tagging role) have been playing good footy and Scotland (and McGough) are struggling to get a game. I know most Collingwood supporters rate him and think he should be playing more regularly. He has good skills, wins his own ball, runs the lines - we had a crack at him last year as an uncontracted player but he ended up signing with the Pies. I reckon they'll trade him and he would easily be in our best 22.

In regards to Scotland read the first line of my original post above. I'm not suggesting we trade our first round draft pick for him because he is not worth that, i am suggesting we trade a mid range player like Hilton or a mid range draft pick for him.
And for those of you who think he's a dud. Watch the Pies v Swans game or last years prelim final (Pies v Crows) and you'll see that this guy is no dud. He is finding it hard to get a game in one of the best midfields in the comp and would be a walk u start into our struggling, unskilled midfield.

Anyway I'm outta here, off to farewell Jack

Scotland may be left in outer
By Andrew Ramsey
August 27, 2003

MUCH like his boyhood hero Doug Hawkins who became the legendary resident of the Western Oval's far-side wing, Heath Scotland knows about life on the outer.

Given he's spent much of the year with Collingwood's reserves team Williamstown, he expects he will have to leave the club that recruited him as a teenager in the 1998 national draft.

Despite being a regular fixture among Collingwood's midfield rotation last year, Scotland has been unable to recapture his 2002 form or a permanent place in the senior line-up this season.

Courted unsuccessfully by Richmond after last year's grand final, Scotland has been linked with Carlton in early 2003 trade rumours.

The 23-year-old admits he may soon be forced to choose between an ongoing bit part at Victoria Park or a leading role at a club less endowed with proven onballers.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't sometimes think about that," Scotland said when asked if he felt he may be better advised to join a rival outfit.

"I also wonder if the club will keep me given, it's fair to say, I've under-achieved this year.

"I'm contracted for next year and hope (Collingwood) want to keep me, but my immediate concern is to slot in and secure a place in the side."

After Saturday's win over Sydney, Scotland can at least breathe easy about being named for his 50th AFL match, against Essendon in Friday night's sell-out at the MCG.

In tough conditions in Sydney, Scotland took control of the ball 19 times and kicked three goals which corresponded to Collingwood's winning margin.

But the boy who grew up as a devoted Western Bulldogs fan knows he has yet to earn the luxury of selection certainty.

Scotland thought he had mastered the art of consistency when he strung together the last 14 games of 2002 (including the grand final) and began the 2003 pre-season free of osteitis pubis, which had blighted his previous two seasons.

However, the competition for places among Collingwood's midfielders has restricted him to seven senior games this year even though his ball-getting ability would make him a permanent figure in lesser line-ups.

heath scotland is a dud,

he has a couple of good games a year big deal. But going by that notion he is a certain tiger next year, might even sign him up for 3 years while we are at it.

Did we not react the same way to a great game that Phillip Walsh played for Colloingwood in the eighties, he cost a lot of cash to lure him and ended up like Clinton King

You clowns would just love more reject duds to join the club and make it more decrepit than it is now.
Scotland is a dud, only marginally better than the flemings and houlihans of this world.

Well said Diggles.

Scotland is lucky ATM due to the fact he is running around in the best functioning team in the league.

The question we must ask ourselves is "would Heath make us a better team?" IMO no.

Looks like I have a differing view to most others on this forum in relation to Heath Scotland. The club has previously stated that we are looking to draft players with AFL experience with our mid range draft picks. Expect players like Scotland, Henneman, Cory McGrath, Bartel, Hahn etc to be targets. You might think these guys are duds, but they would easily walk into our team.

Heath = useless scrubland
+
Scotland = A county which has tried for centuries to stand up for itself against England and failed.

Do the math... ;)

I must admit that I haven't seen a lot of SCOTLAND, but after watching him tonight agains the Bombers I would take him if he didn't cost us too much.

He is a reasonably big bodied midfielder with good skill who would benefit from regular game time in my opinion.

I maybe way off the mark here based on the little I have seen of him, but he certainly looked better than some that our are occupying our list at the moment.

Happy to stand corrected, but we need to trade for players that will strenghten our list.

Is this the same Scotland that hit Jacobs by himself on the chest with a lovely pass. I hope none of the people that wont Scotland are the same ones calling for Bowdens head.

Some of you people need to pull your head in!!

if you are going to judge people's ability on the way they disposed of the ball last night then you are kidding yourself. Even the so called top players running around last night were missing goals from 15-20 m due to the weather conditions!

Just before I pull my head in I would like to remind you Bulluss that the wind has been playing tricks all year at the MCG since the Western stand came down. Last night while more noticeable shouldnt be an exuse for any professional footballer especially as it wasnt gusting as much as it has.
