In an interview on 3L0 tonight Hutchy said at the end of the season we'll be targeting 2 tough midfielders to help Cogs and Johnson which I think is great.

The concerning thing is he said the other player we really need and will go for is a small specialist goal kicking forward.

I hope that's not the case. We have far more urgent roles to fill than a small forward imo, but I guess we've seen them target that kind of player before.

I hope they give Krak and Marty a go for the rest of the year and see what they can do, and use our selections for other type players at the end of the season.

I think he meant players ready made to go, so probably trade.

Hutchy said we really need a small forward like Matera.
They questioned him about Krak and Rodan for the role but he didn't seem to think they were the answer.
They asked if that was becase those two were being groomed for a midfield role, and he kinda agreed, but didn't really give a convincing answer actually.

Another Huddo or Houlihan coming up.

screw those *smile* heads running the footbll dept when will they learn that to build any sort of depth at a club you have to take the best kid available just look at wce they took paul johnson when they already have heaps of talls or port ad who took salopek when what they really needed was a tall defender the doggies did the same as port short term pain for long term gain god im sick of useless arseholes running our football club

Dead wood like Hutchison will not even be there to make the critical decisions next year.

These fools obviously can't learn from their mistakes and must be evacuated asap.

Agree rosy. Need them in the midfield rotation as we still get smashed when Cogs, Cambo and Johnson aren't there. Plus getting clearances remains a real weakness of ours.

Do the names Hudson, Houlihan, Pettifer and Mills mean anything to Hutchy and the recruiting staff? What about McGrath, Krakouer and Rodan ???

If anything we need additional talls coming through on our list - a couple of KPs and a ruckman. Not more specialist small forwards  . That's the same dreadful mistake we made after 2001 :-\ .

We start to developing CHB and FB types.

If they go for small specialist forwards, they either know something we dont, want Rodan and Krakouer in the middle or are completely intercoursed in the head!

You ALWAYS draft the best kid/s available and then trade around that your cuirrent playing list as a base.

I suspect the latter.

Good to see they are targeting the midfield. We still get smashed here by the good sides. Even with our full complement. The midfielders we target need to have some size and could be fill in key position roles at a pinch.

Agree 100% rosy - we don't need a small forward. We have a few which will develop to fit the bill. Hopefully Saturday night changed the clubs mind with this.

For goodness sake, if they are after more hard ass'ed midfielders, why not try Zantuck in the middle. He is a very strong bodied player and has presence.

With some guidance, some work on his disposal and a fitness regime, he could be the new Rishittio!!!

Lets not go silly over Hutchy's comments people. I am sure that Miller has worked out exactly who we need.

The days of going for a specialist flanker/crumber are gone....hopefully.

I would hope our targets would be a midfielder or two, and big bodied backman and some ultra quick kids. We need some pace.
