Kane Lambert

Miles cannot go close to playing Lambert role. Not in a million years. Crazy talk.

He's had one game below 19 possessions in 9 weeks and was near BOG getting us over the line against the Roos less than a month ago.

3rd in the B & F. Has many credits.

He plays.

I agree Corburg

Pressure from the two's only works if players get dropped back when out of form and players performing above the standard in the VFL get a run.

Besides putting pressure on spots it also gives those players just out of the best 22-25 a feel for the speed of the game. Which changes each year. Who knows what form and injury will throw up as the season goes on.

Time for Lambert to go back and work on a few things and give Miles or C Ellis another go. Miles for me give his form and the big bodied Port mids.

As of now Id take an out of form Graham or Lambert ahead of Corey Ellis any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

At the moment, Lambert isn't playing Lambert's role. So why don't we get Miles to play Miles role.

Especially when Miles role now includes multiple rebound 50's, inside 50's, and goals, to go with his already high clearance and tackle numbers.

I like that role.

Spot on Leysy.

Talk of dropping Lambert is crazy talk.

Just as crazy as early in the year when there were calls for Castagna to be dropped.

They are crucial cogs to our game plan. Not sure why people fail to see we pick players to suit our game plan.

Lloyd is another classic example. Kills it at VFL level but just cant sustain the high intensity, hard running style required in the seniors.

Lloyd was given two games in the seniors.

Disagree. Has played some good games but he is a depth player. Others are a little better. And that's the beauty of having a strong list. That's why we're at the top in both the 1sts and reserves. We have AFL quality players playing reserves who just can't break into the AFL team as regulars.

And the thing with Lloyd is he plays VFL as the 2nd on baller but comes into AFL as what, 5th?

Correct again mate.

hasnt he played 5?

I'm pretty sure Lloydy and Milesy, who are both really good players, would be playing if GPS's wernt invented.

I would be pretty interested to see Miles' GPS data on the weekend. 3 rebound 50's, 3 goals and 12 clearances? Where wasn't he?

yeah I'd like to see it for sure.

But remember it shows speed and pattern as well as distance, and there are different benchmarks for 1st and 2nds.

But I agree, he is in red hot form and it seems its now or never.

I suspect it may be the latter? Which would certainly be very frustrating for Milesy and his friends and family.

out of interest, anyone know where Milesy and Sammy finish in the 3km run that Brando wins (and I think Lambo places?)

Funny thing is that our VFL team plays exactly the same way as the firsts. They have some one pacers in midfield like CEllis, Lloyd, Ballard, Grewar, Thompson and Wood yet they still apply midfield pressure, forward pressure press high, scoop up the blast kicks and transition quickly mostly through forward handballs and long kicking.

Miles doesn't seem to hurt that setup. Don't see how he would hurt the firsts considering the extra talent and speed he'd have surrounding him.

It shows how quickly things can change.

When he came into the side Snipper was one of the major reasons behind the sides improvement we were smashing everyone with contested ball and clearances as Cotchin and Dusty were in there with him and possibly Tucky as well happy to be corrected re Tucky if wrong.

Now we rarely see our 3 most dominant mids in at the bounce together and Milesy cant get a look in.

Shes a Cold Hearted *smile* the Business of AFL Footy.

Unfortunately by not playing him we have also contributed to losing any leverage if anyone else actually shows interest in him.

I suspect you're probably right.

I reckon it's a real missed opportunity, though. I don't know whether we'll be a better side with Miles in it. I suspect we would be. Others disagree.

At the worst, I reckon it's worth having a look. If we can carry Menadue, Moore and some others who aren't peaking in order to see what they can give us, I'd like to think we can 'carry' Miles to see if the things he's shown massive improvement in (chase/spread/pressure) at VFL level can be brought to the seniors. Because if he can even contribute ninety percent of the 'running skills' a Lambert/Conca/Kmac/Ellis/Graham has, he's got about a million percent the 'footballing' skills.

Needed an impact from Lablett today and got it.

Good game from Kayne has been bit up and down but his good has been very good.
