Luke McGuane

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Bloody Oath!

That'll be the prime example of commitment, effort, guts and courage on what Hardwick expects.

Great stuff. Onya Luke!

Yeah we all know Luke has his deficiencies blah blah..

but today his efforts in the goal square deserve recognition.
Absolute selflessness and determination to save that goal and almost ended his career in the process.
Luke then bounced up and hit the next contest with equal vigor, almost ending Lollipop Head's career.
It was tremendous stuff and set a real example for his team mates to follow for the rest of the day.

If everyone of our players showed the passion & guts that Luke showed at those particular contests we'd be nigh unbeatable.

If he's upgraded eventually by a better player great but it's obvious he bleeds yellow and black so let's get behind him and leave the cheap shots at the door. Couldn't care less what his knockers say, I unashamedly love this kid's attitude.
Great stuff T0o.I,m a fan of McGuane for the precise reasons you have mentioned. No he,s not and never will be a polished footballer but he makes up for it in spades with his 110% efforts each week.Have said it before he,s our only "enforcer" who gives as much as he gets and goes back for more.He stands up for his teamates and the RFC.
Richmond,s History is built around these types.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

really put his balls on the line. top stuff

:clap

What annoys me about the knockers is that they somehow believe every backman should be a Scarlett. The thing about Muscles is that he always puts in to the best of his ability. We cannot ask any player for more than that.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

great courage shown in this play .... i :clap :clap :clap

this should be put on tape and shown to all RFC players over the next few years as the courage and committment required to pull on a RFC jumper.

Unbelievable courage to try to stop the goal being injured and then getting up to go the next contest to stop a mark.
:clap :clap

Absolutely brilliant gutsy effort.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Would anyone trade McGuane for Zac Dawson? The guy who was, and still is, fullback for the team that came very close to winning the premiership last year.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Good play yesterday. He knew he was stuffed but still he decided he had to go anyway. Almost like croad when he did his foot in the grand final in 2009. Put it all on the line

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I still don't think Luke will ever have the required skill and decision making to be a key defender in a perennial finals team, but I've never questioned his courage and after today neither should anyone else. I've seen the replay of him hitting the goal post a number of times and I still don't know how he didn't break his leg, and then to effect another spoil, which knocked out Ebert while he was still in the hands of the trainers that's Tiger tough personified. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to rest this week though, he'd be a pretty sore boy today.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I still think with a hard working midfield creating options ahead of him his disposal issues would be far less of an issue
He already regularly has very high disposal efficiency in a lot of games

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Sorry ToO, I usually like what you write but please...just because Lukey almost lost his nadgems doesn't mean we should join the "luke has courage" bandwagon. Displaying a courageous act doesn't hide the fact he's a spud and doesn't cover up all of his mistakes over the years. ( again I apologise, I know you didnt want this to be a Luke bashing thread but there has to some realism here. And if I am going to be really harsh here it was a bit silly of Luke to not protect himself a bit better.)

Would be boring around here if we were all sheep.

That was one of the best efforts I've seen

Even if we lost yesterday, i would always remember his hunger to get back into the contest, because pumpkin head ebert would've marked that ball, because gentleman Moore didn't have a glue.
great stuff, true Richmond hunger!!! :clap

Realism ? You're opinion maybe, but hardly realism. The fact Willy T got dropped before Luke says a lot IMHR

Yes, yes, yes! If youve played a team sport, contact sport inparticular it is impossible to measure the impact on team mates when someone performs an act like that. You walk a little taller when playing with someone like that. We are emotive beasts & acts like that will bring out the best of those emotions.
