I see Ghostbusters is due out this July with a all girl team. Certainly going a little different from the original movie 30 years ago.

The cast is excellent it should be absolutely hilarious.

You liked it? I battled not to turn it off. I'm all Tom Hardy'd out.

"Witness!"

Saw it last night. Was looking forward to it. Like you struggled not to turn it off. Not sure Tom was the problem. Was nothing more than a car chase turned into a movie. Has nothing on the first 2.

The Big Lebowski at Caulfield Race Track

Came home and mixed a couple of white Russians.
I wish I could bowl.
Such a passer of a film, all characters and no plot.
I love Jesus the pedarist

Loved Deadpool. Genuinely funny and a great spin on a tiring genre.
Yep, it's funny, my son loves the Ironman, X men, batman, Thor etc movies but I keep telling him they're long, overblown and dull.

Then I say Deadpool was funny and irreverent and my son says he didn't like it!

Fell asleep. In my defence, it was late on a Sunday night (not the optimal time to see a movie for an old fart like me). Although, what I caught of the opening credits impressed - original and funny.

Washing myself of my sin by watching Mad Max on fox!

Batman vs Superman...

It's an odd feeling being an hour into a movie about the epic battle between two iconic legends of superhero mythology, and not have seen them together on screen yet. It's even more odd to be an hour and a half into that movie before they start fighting. And it's downright bothersome when they stop fighting three minutes later. The lows: Acting, script, plot, dialogue, action scenes. The highs: the opening credits, cause they're well shot, the closing credits cause it was over.

The plot, dialogue and ten year old boy logic of the main characters can best be described as follows.

Superman: "I am strong, but sad because people don't like me. It's probably Batman's fault for reasons."

Batman: "Grrr, I hate you Superman for reasons. I will spend two years hunting you."

Superman: "You'll never beat me! Oh *smile*, you're beating me, my mum's name is Martha!"

Batman: "Wait, your mum's name is my mum's name? Now we're best friends forever!"

Wonderwoman: "Also me!"

Lex Luthor: "Nib bib nin nin nin Nib nin."

Zack Snyder: "Hey guys, can we shoot that one again? Needs more shaky cam and lens flare."

There were also the valid questions I heard Audience members around me asking throughout the movie, such as:

"Why does Superman hate Batman? "
"Why does Lex luthor hate everyone?"
"Why is every action scene a dream sequence? "
"Why is every action scene terrible?"
"Why does everything keep blowing up?
"Why does Batman hate Superman?"
"Why does Batman like Superman now?"
"Why does wonder woman's shield protect her legs when she holds it in front of her face? "
" Why is wonder woman in this movie?"
"Why is Lex luthor making the crazy frog noise for two minutes?"
"What just happened for the last two and a half hours?"
"Can we go yet? "

By the way, the answer to all of those questions is a comprehensive, "*smile* if I know."

Incidentally, that's the same thing it says on every line of the script in the section marked 'dialogue'.

sounds like one of those movies where the trailers are the highlight , unless one of those trailers was for a Ed Sheeran concert movie..

Took the girls to see Zootopia, the latest Disney kids film.

It's getting good reviews but personally I found it very preachy. In Zootopia (Utopia) all the animals have evolved (there's no humans) so that they all get along and don't eat each other.

But suddenly predator animals are starting to attack the others. We then learn that we can't assume that because some predators are going bad that all predator animals are bad (a thinly veiled reference that in the real world the "predators" are Muslims)

Like Inside Out was akin to a therapy session Zootopia is a lesson in harmony. Very noble yes but I remember when kids movies were fun.

That reads like a review of every superhero movie of the past 15 years.

One of the things I do enjoy about the Disney movies are all the little references to previous films and pop culture nods. There's a wonderful Breaking Bad one in Zootopia. For a while now they've worked on 2 levels, they have all the cute and funny stuff that the kids enjoy, but then there are these lines that go right over the kids heads, but get a chuckle from the adults. It seemed to begin with Robin Wlliams' tour de force performance as the genie in Aladdin.

BATMAN vs SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE DOG (151 minutes) M

Heaven help us. Here's another piece of superhero crap that is so inexcusably bad you'll think you've died and gone to movie hell.

The film pits Batman (Ben Affleck) and babbling corporate bad guy Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) against Superman (Henry Cavill).

They see him as an almighty alien threatening the future of civilisation, while he sees himself as an icon of justice fulfilling the public duty bestowed upon him by his loving foster parents (Kevin Costner, Diane Lane).

To be fair, the opening stretch of the film actually does a good job setting up this three-sided conflict, with a lot of neat sidebar discussions about whether Superman is somebody people actually want fighting their fights for them.

But then, lo, comes the film's "big revelations" and, right before your eyes, you see what could have been a terrific entry into the superhero franchise totally collapse into the usual swirl of superhero franchise cliches.

One could be forgiven for thinking there is a default software package somewhere that filmmakers go to when they run out of ideas. The final battle here looks precisely like every other superhero movie climax: there are monsters; giant energy bolts; huge fireballs; brooding skies; the crushing of buildings; and, of course, rubble. Loads and loads of rubble.

It's hard to imagine a big-budget film worse than Avengers: Age of Ultron or even Gods of Egypt - there, it's been said - but Batman vs Superman has the dubious distinction of showing utter contempt for its audience, and wearing that contempt on its sleeve as if it was a badge of honour.

This is brazenly demonstrated through Superman's completely back-asswards relatonship to kryptonite. Did director Zack Snyder really think he would get away with it? That nobody would notice?

Scratching the bottom of the barrell for fresh ideas is one thing, but what occurs in Batman vs Superman is the filmmakers scratching right through the barrell and hitting the floor below.

The film's messy resolution also signals a shift of emphasis for the DC Comic universe. Till now, with the Batman films, the brand was seen as holding the higher moral ground compared to Marvel's more low-brow style.

Well, they've surrendered that now, along with their concern for the legacy of their superheroes.
