Nicholls' Tigers chance

RICHMOND looks set to revive the luckless career of former Hawthorn utility Bill Nicholls.
He is a likely inclusion for the showdown with Essendon at the MCG on Saturday.
The midfielder and forward has been impressive with VFL team Coburg in recent weeks and Richmond has to find replacements for injured captain Wayne Campbell (calf) and forward Adam Houlihan (hamstring).
Nicholls played six games with Hawthorn in 2001, but last season was stricken by hamstring and groin injuries, delisted and then drafted by the Tigers.
"Guys in contention would be Royce Vardy, Billy Nicholls, Clinton King . . . he could be a midfielder we could bring into the mix," assistant coach Darren Crocker said at MCG training yesterday.
He said there were a few VFL options they could go to. Matthew Richardson (hamstring) would not play and they had lost Campbell and Houlihan from last weekend's match.
He said it was definitely not worth risking Richardson.
"He has had a history of hamstrings and we just want to err on the side of conservatism with him," Crocker said.
