Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Surprised by the Balta commentary on here

Being played as a forward because he MIGHT be a good forward, whilst Miller is played in the backline and he is at best solid and is still establishing himself after years on the list. If you are in win now mode, Balta plays in the backline and Miller plays VFL.

No, he is playing forward because we are in "win now" mode, and the best way to win now is with Balta as 2nd ruck/3rd forward, not Soldo.

Whilst he might be better than Soldo as a resting forward, he is MILES better as a player in the backline. So then it's become a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul

As soon as Balta went down back we looked much better structurally and Balta played with greater confidence.

Has just gone up another notch in importance for the next 3 weeks has Noah.

We need him to find form ASAP without Grimesy.

Broady and Tigga need to go up another gear also.

If they do that our defence will be ok.

I had to search for this thread, and I surprised no one commented on his performance last night.

He was just moved off Eric Hipwood.
Just think about that for a second. IMO Hipwood is the worst key forward in the AFL, and by a long way.
I have been under the illusion that Balta is a gun key back, one to build a side around but after last nights effort i reckon he will need to work pretty hard to regain the trust of the match committee.

When the game was on the line the coaches preferred an 18 year old to him, which if nothing else is downright embarrassing.

He was the most disappointing player for us this year IMO. Earlier in season I was a Balta has top 10 AFL player potential as a swingman believer. Now I think not even a lock for best 22. Needs a massive off season!

With Bata I think things need to be kept real simple. He is a defender - play him there all year. No more shuffling around.
yeah, i can see why they went with him as a forward, once they stopped playing Soldo and Nank as well. But it did not work. And it looks to have had a but of a negative effect on his defending. Next year we need to try to get some stability back and build around Balta and Gibcus, and DRioli and Baker, for the year.

Hipwood did start off very skinny so had to lead both wide and high up the ground , and hence his scoring from those positions problematic , he has got better , incrementally , not unlike Chol
Hipwood had his kicking boots on last night
And to counter his leading we probably needed Grimmes
Tarant has probably taken the position that Balta is best suited to

But what can we say it was a learning experience for Gibcus , Balta and the coaches

The club are still working out where his best position is. He has shown good form in various positions from time to time and hopefully we will get a coach that can get the best out of his undoubted talent but in a settled position

Noah is not a natural footballer. He’s first an athlete then a footballer as we saw when Charlie Cameron tapped the ball over his head to a running Hipwood while Noah was ball watching .
He did catch Hipwood dueto his athletic ability but it was too late.
His skills are good but it’s his game day thinking that concerns me.

I think he is carrying too much weight. Has lost some of his pace.

As for him and Nank for not punching that ball 5 rows back disgraceful.
