If you ever hear a rugby supporter either union or league calling AFL soft have a look at the penalty awarded the Broncos to win tonight’s game against Canterbury.

And paid in goal in the last minute.

NRL has been way over officiated this year, the 10m rule and around the rucks, players going to the sin bin more than i can remember.

Refs been told to officiating to the enth degree and causing all sorts of angst amongst fans and pundits alike.

Just cost a team a game for a soft as *smile* penalty just as the AFL umps will do sooner rather than later.

The Toads are all over he Roaches like a cheap suit, they've had a try disallowed and have just now scored one, 4/0 after 14 minutes.

AFL and cricket aren't the only sports relying on doubtful technology.

Queensland robbed of their first try tonight by an amateur analysis of a so-called "freeze frame".

The part of the frame showing his foot on the line was recorded after the part of the frame showing the ball being placed. It's the way frames are constructed. I think the first horizontal line in the scan is recorded .04 of a second before the last line.

LOL at the pro NSW commentary again last night.

How many Times can Old Mate Gus Gould yell the words Penalty Try Penalty Try :hihi :hihi

The NSW bias in the NRL has not improved one iota, yet the Queensland fans and teams have been the ones keeping the laymans dollar flowing to the NRL.

Pus Gould - tool. Change coach at own club, fine but then start destabilising other clubs......

Tigers in a 'no win' position due to pull of family.

Slater has retired.

Well done Billy Boy. Forever a champ.

Didn't realise he was a 1 club player. Should rename AAMI to Slater-Fornaroli Stadium

For those that follow NRL closely, was Billy Slater's shoulder charge worthy of a 1 week ban or is this just another case of the Sydney NRL establishment doing whatever they can to prevent Storm from winning?

Has to be suspended.... which is a tragedy. The rules on shoulder charges were changed to prevent exactly what he did to put an opponent out of play illegally.

He knew exactly what he was doing. If he tackled low the opponent was certain to score. The correct tackle technique was to go for the mid-section(like a spear in the WWE) with an arm either side of the body. That would have given him about a 50:50 chance of stopping the try. Instead he went high, using no arms in the tackle, to wipe out his opponent. Very effective but illegal.

Storm are brilliant at exploiting the tackling rules to the max. Usually they get away with it. This time they should pay the price. At a minimum the Sharks should have gotten a penalty and Slater sent to the sin-bin. Bad refereeing error. There was a good case also for Sharks being awarded a penalty try
