Not sure if this belongs in NRL, or politics thread. But here it goes.

Nice to see the NSW government spend $830mil to knock down a 45k seat stadium - that isn't that old and really should have had another decade or two life in it - to build another 45k seat stadium that looks remarkably similar to the original. Meanwhile teachers, nurses, public transport employees etc NSW struggle for a pay rise.

And when you think about it, the stadium generally hosts crowds of only 10-15k the majority of the time anyway.

Oh but we spared no expense on all the latest bells and whistles to enhance fan experience. including commissioning an indigenous artist to create a spectacular first nations depiction of the water meeting the land (or some other such fluffy explanation). An admission that it will be two thirds empty most of the time. What would be the point of beautiful artful seating if there are bums on those seats covering it all - which would entail the stadium would actually then closer to paying for itself with capacity (or near capacity) crowds? Perhaps it would be more practical to put that money into indigenous programmes at the community level in the likes of Wilcania and Dubbo that suffer horrendous social problems, than some pretty (but expensive) seats that won't be sat on.

At the same time, also spending a mint gutting and renovating an only 20YO white elephant stadium at Homebush. Kind of reminds me of what is being suggested for Tasmania. Two less than 20YO stadiums to be essentially abandoned, to then spend $750mil-$1bil on a gold and platinum plated version in a state with only a 550k population and Gross State Product (GSP) to match. Our society really feels like Rome repeated at times. Build coliseums we can't afford to keep the idiots entertained and distracted, while society crumbles under it's own decadence.

Should be a cracker of a game tonight between the Storm and the Rooters. The Rooters have won their last 5 and the Storm are 4-1, bring back the biff.

JWH is the dirtiest sniping campaigner of the last decade.

Great result well deserved win by the tougher side. Go roosters.

West Tigers keep finding different ways to lose a game, the dumbest side in the history of the game.

yep, they deserved what they got today. little talent &, sadly, fewer brains. Their 1st spoon. Canberra will run up a cricket score next week at Leichhardt.

Storm out to their nemesis at home again.

Raiders have made a regular habit of rolling the Storm at home over the recent years.

With a handful more departures next season especially in the forwards the Bromwich Brothers, Kaufusi and Brandon Smith, the Storm might be back to the field for a bit.
