Olympics Tokyo 2021 - sport

Thorpe on the 4x100 relay - McEvoy looking really good in the water. We were 7 of 8 after the first leg. Thorpe is dull and not very accurate.

I know I’m in the minority, but I like Thorpe. He’s calm and measured and does know what he’s talking about. It’s a refreshing change from the frenzied jingoism of most of them.

Olyroos completely outplayed by Spain as expected but losing 1-0 prob as good as we could have hoped. Losing Atkinson for the next match in the last play of the game hurt though.

A draw against Egypt will see us progress to the knockout stage.

Yeah I turned it on after the swimming which would have been around 65 minutes in. Not sure what happened before that but from that point on we were completely outclassed and outplayed by the Spanish. Their ball control and passing was panels above ours and the ball lived near our penalty box until the dam wall finally broke. We were lucky to only lose 1-0.

Just need to beat Egypt to progress. I guess no mean feat as they held Spain to 0-0 draw.

Only need a draw to progress

USA about to go under in the basketball?
The French were very very good. Put a lot of pressure on the Yanks who couldn't deal with it and they threw up bricks for the last quarter and a bit I saw. They have an excellent point guard in De Colo who's a seriously good player and Fournier shot the lights out (never did that for the Celtics  ). Plus ex-Celtics Poirier and Yabusele played very well. The French have some massive units in the front court and the Yanks struggled to handle them.

What a champion Titmus is. That was an awesome performance that has brought a tear to my eye in beating an arrogant American.

Great race. Brilliantly judged swim. Didn't panic when Ledecky got a body length in front.

Gee Titmus is a great competitor. Refuses to lie down. She just ground that Yank into the dirt.

What an Aussie champ! :clap2

Chalmers is in great form. Gave up a massive deficit to haul in 2-3 swimmers and grab bronze. Almost got the silver.

Bodes well for his individual event.

The Chinese hockey goalkeeper needs to keep her legs together. Must have been nutmegged at least four times for a goal In the few highlights I’ve seen.
