smart move by Cox
he'll most likely earn more per annum over the next 2 years than he would in any office job , sales job etc
and he'll get a good look at a lovely part of the world
and he'll most likely be a part of a team achieving a good level of success

just a pitty the best game of his career was against us in a prelim :-(

Adelaide List spots: 1

Train-ons: Tom McGuane, Zac Foot

After being overlooked in favour of Collingwood NGA graduate Jai Saxena last Friday, Tom McGuane has the chance to chase his dream at the Crows. The son of Collingwood premiership player Mick McGuane was a ball-magnet in the Coates Talent League, averaging 28 disposals and five clearances. Former Sydney player Zac Foot, 24, will also trial with Adelaide after a strong VFL season with Southport, winning their best-and-fairest and finishing in the VFL team of the year.

List spots: 1

Delisted duo Elijah Hollands and Will White will return to the Blues as they vie to win their spot back. White could become a two-time SSP pick-up after being added last pre-season, going on to play 14 games as a small forward in 2025. Hollands was delisted with a year to run on his contract. West Coast NGA graduate Wes Walley isn't an official train-on player, but has signed with the Blues' VFL program and is expected to spend some time with the senior squad.

SSP signing: Mason Cox

Train-ons: Christopher Scerri, Zac Harding

The Dockers locked in former Collingwood ruck-forward Mason Cox on Monday as back-up for Luke Jackson and Sean Darcy, but they still have another list spot to fill. VFL small forward Christopher Scerri and Murray Bushrangers ruck Zac Harding, both 19, will also head across the Nullabor to train with Fremantle. Harding impressed as an over-ager for Vic Country at the national championships, while Scerri had a promising first season for the Northern Bullants, having signed with Richmond VFL earlier this month.

Train-ons: Jaidyn Stephenson, Balyn O’Brien, Mitchell Zadow

Former Collingwood and North Melbourne livewire Jaidyn Stephenson was down at Alberton for day one of their full training on Monday. Stephenson retired at 25 at the end of 2024 but a season captaining Ferntree Gully - in Eastern league division three - has re-ignited his passion to play at the top level. Norwood defender Balyn O’Brien, who was part of South Australia’s national championships win and played eight senior with the Redlegs, and East Fremantle forward Mitchell Zadow, 21, will also be vying for an AFL shot. With two free list spots, there could be more players invited down

Train-ons: Oskar Ainsworth, Tex Wanganeen

Western Jets forward Oskar Ainsworth had his first day in at Moorabbin on Monday, with Tex Wanganeen, a cousin of $2 million man Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, also set to train on. Ainsworth, a powerful 187cm forward, kicked 21 goals in 12 games for the Jets – including two bags of five. Wanganeen played five games for Essendon in 2022 and split his time between Port Melbourne and VAFA outfit Old Xaverians this year.

SSP signings: Deven Robertson, Harry Schoenberg, Finlay Macrae

Handed four additional rookie spots as part of their draft concessions, the Eagles’ remaining were filled on Tuesday by delisted trio Deven Robertson (Brisbane), Harry Schoenberg (Adelaide) and Finlay Macrae (Collingwood). All three are coming off strong state league campaigns and will strengthen West Coast’s midfield depth.

Shirley Freo go with Scerri.
They've brought in Cox and also have a young 19/20yo ruck. Cant imagine they also take Harding

Just when he thought his chances of an AFL recall had passed, ace VFL goalkicker Brodie McLaughlin has caught the attention of Hawthorn.
Starting on Thursday, the 28-year-old will train with the Hawks as an SSP hopeful.

It was during the 2023 SSP period that McLaughlin, then playing at Frankston Dolphins, was put on the Gold Coast Suns’ list.

He figured in the Suns’ VFL flag and booted 55 goals but did not appear at senior level and was cut after one season.

This year he booted 71.40 for Williamstown, winning the Jim Miller Medal as leading goalkicker, helping the Towners to the finals and running third in the club best and fairest.

The 193cm McLaughlin has been a dominant force at state league level, in the past three seasons kicking 175 goals in 58 games.

In terms of talent, Ben King is out of contract at the end of 2026.
71 goals in 2025, averaging about 3 per game.
Only defeatists would say C'wood has first dibs.
Why? Let’s give Faull, Armstrong, Sims, Fawcett and Lefau a chance at least.

When we brought the Lynch mob in we had no-one except JR8. Very different situation.

See how it all pans out.
Tom Lynch's first four seasons were tremendous, averaging about 50 per goals per year.
Since then, about 12 per year.
King would be about the same age as when Tom transferred from Gold Coast, eight years after, one year less.
Ben could be a legacy KPF that we have as the nucleus, for the youngsters to develop around.

Why would he leave a side in its window and go to a club who's rebuilding?
