Hi all,

It feels a bit weird sometimes contributing to other Richmond conversations when I'm still a newbie, I'm not sure if my opinion will be noticed. I figured introducing myself may help.

I'm 24 in Melbourne and am of Greek descent, I've been a Richmond fan since I was 4 (1984) and have never resorted to bandwagon jumping like most kids I grew up with (ex-Tiger fans, now Hawthorn or Essendon fans), represent! :p

A little about myself: I'm a rock'n'roll accountant, I operate my own bookkeeping business (specialising in helping out businesses who have messy/poor accounts and need to get back up to speed). I'm also in a band (i've been playing guitar and composing songs since 1992) although we haven't started gigging as we're still laying down tracks, we play rock but I do my best to make sure it's blues-driven. Yes that means I'm a blues fan (the music not the footy team), I love my BB.King and Jimi Hendrix (see avatar).

As for sports I'm a huge fan but due to recurring knee problems I'm limited to playing only tennis. I'm a fan of AFL (tiges), NBA (lakers), F1 (renault), NFL (falcons) and NHL (rangers). When it comes to television I'm a big fan of animated comedy (family guy, south park, futurama and simpsons).

Hi Otis.  Thanks for sharing your info.

Don't worry about being a newbie.  We were all there once.  The more people who post their thoughts about the Tiges the better PRE is.

Gee I wish you could get my bookwork on track...I hate it with a pasison and drive my accountant bonkers I'm so slack about it all.  I hate the GST, far more work for far less money.

Geez safer to talk footy I think. :rofl

I used to really love Hendrix and had a heap of records and bootlegs but someone ripped most of them off and I only have a couple left now.

Happy posting Otis. :)

Welcome Otis. :spin
I admire any one who can make sense of accounting and make music at the same time.
Would it be true to say you are a fan of Otis Redding as well?
Enjoy!

G'day Otis,

It's great to meet another guitarist/ composer! I had already guessed you were a guitarist though because few non - guitarists now who Django Reinhardt is and also because of your avatar.

It's great to have you at PRE, mate. The more musicians the better!

What's your band called? When do you plan to start "gigging"?

Cya mate

Thanks for the welcome folks,

@Rosy23: that makes me mui triste hearing about your old hendrix albums being ripped off, bastardos

@Anduril: hehe, actually my nickname 'otis' is just a nickname (from my given name at birth - Panayiotis) :)

@Gypsy_Jazz: I love Django, esp his work with Stefane Grapelli. My brother introduced me to jazz guitar as a youngster. I'm not that great at playing jazz, but I love to listen to it. No band name as yet, something none of us can agree on. If all goes well we might be playing by July/Aug. Will keep you posted.

Hi Otis. Like you Futurama cracks me up. Usually on Foxtel that show is either preceded or followed by King of the Hill, another belly laugh show.

Welcome Otis

Don't worry about being a newbie, as Rosy said we were all newbies once, and look how I have blossomed

And don't worry about your opinon never being noticed, no-one ever takes any notice of my opinions, well actually truth be known I think the deliberately choose to ignore me ;D

Between you and Gypsy_Jazz we will have a ready made band if we ever have a PRE end of season get together :clap

Come on Tim Tam. Everybody loves your posts. Note you have a Karma of 5, which is pretty hot stuff. Much better than a lot.

Otis,

Have you heard "Djangology" by Django Reinhard and Stephane Grapelli? I belive it's his (their) best.

@graystar: hehe yeah King of the Hill rules too, Boomhauer cracks me up.

@tiggytam: thanks for the advice heh, it's always comforting to know that I'm welcome here :)

@gypsy__jazz: yeah i like Djangology. I always like to promote django as a speed-guitarist way ahead of his time (before electric guitars were around) but most of my mates pass it off as music that belongs on one of those butcher's tv ads.

Not surprised you like Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Rach as they are real romantic (read blues) type composers.
Mozart, Bruch and Bach are my first aid kit, but you might like to try Mahler, Brahms (his violin concerto is awesome), Bruch's violin works are full of moods, his "In Memorium" and "Adagio apassionato" are soulful.
Best way to find out is go to Borders and listen to some of those "110 best classical hits" type CDs.
End of sermon!
PS I also have some of Emmylou Harris' CDs.

So, you like country as well. I have a great selection of DVD's of the "Best of Classical Music." I think there is eight in the series...no 10...got them from the ABC shop many moons ago and missed out on a disk. Bugger!!

My top 4 as well.

Otis, you should wander over to the general section and ask Clay a question. We've got everything you need.

We have...

Clay Bevan - Answers all your curly questions on the "Ask Clay" thread and constantly preaches about blood donation. He's a vampire...

Roar34 - He will provide you with your daily source of laughter with his hilarious "fifth - graders" on the "Great quotes, Great people" thread.

Bear - Claims to answer all your curly questions better than Clay would. He also causes a fair bit of controversy with most of his posts.

And there are many more hilarious and insightful posters. Until the football season starts it is the place to be.

Welcome Otis. Your family has just been massively extended. You'll be more than happy to have arrived. We might give each other a hard time now and then, but it's a typical sibbling thing. Wouldn't be a normal family if we didn't have some fistycuffs every now and then!! Enjoy.

Thanks Anduril, I will take that on board. Might have to swing past the classical music section next time I visit borders. I never realized there was a blues link with tchaikovsky beethoven and rachmaninov, very interesting to know/learn :)

Thanks for the invite, I will swing past. Looking at the topics in most forums I hardly read any of the threads so it's good to know what might interest me, thanks G_J.

hehe well if your nickname 'frahlee' is out of respect for danny frawley then fisticuffs might be the answer  heh nah i'm sure you're lovely (regardless of where your nick is from). As long as you follow the tigers it's all good.
