As said Lynch & Martin may hae back ended deals but equally quite a few of our core players would have gotten salary increases after the Premierships.
Bolton a more prominent recent example of this.
It is indeed the cost of success.

Martin's contract was heavily front end loaded. That is why Lynch was signed up on a back ended contract so as Martin's contract reduces Lynch's will increase

Salary cap is $13.1 million. Dusty and Lynch take up almost $3 million of that. Only $10.5 million left for 35 other players. No wonder its tight.

We've over capitalised on a FF with a bung knee and unfortunately that's forced us to the draft as we can't afford FA or high net worth trades until their contracts end.

Lynch isn't costing us 1.5 mil a year though over the course of his 7 year contract. We were apparently paying bugger all in the first few years weren't we ? & It also helped us to 2 flags, so we can't be to picky I guess.

You can't "Over capitalise" in something when the return is 2 premierships directly as a result of said acquisition.

You can't have it both ways.

We would have won in 2020 without Lynch. He didn't contribute greatly.

Fair to say he played a large part in the comeback win against Geesook in the 2019 Prelim but $1.25M a year for the next 4 years is too much to pay for one game. He needs to deliver next year or accept a decent pay cut

1 game??? You cannot be serious.

Without Lynch, we wouldn't have even finished top 4 in 2019 and would therefore have been unlikely to have won the flag. He kicked 63 goals that year and yet you say he played "1 game".

Now we know for sure you are nothing but a troll.

Martins contract averaged $1.25million over 7 years with the contract heavily front ended
Lynch's contract averaged $950K over 7 years with the contract back ended and going for one more year than Martin's allow for a big last payment.

So not $3million. With a large part of Martins in his first year and a big last year payment for Lynch then it more than likely works at a just under $2m per year

Dusty is on $1.25mil a year (3rd highest in the league) and no its not front ended. Whilst Lynch is on $5mil over the next 4 years with a huge jump up starting next year.

Combined that's $2.5mil and hence a key reason why we are forced to the draft this year and likely for some time yet.

Unless you have more information than myself the club paid Martin upwards of $2m in the first year. This was done for two reasons. One the salary cap took a big jump in total $ that year and was a big advantage to us. Two Norf were offering $2 to $2.5million that first year and Carr made us come up to that level.

But TBR is close to Dusty so maybe he knows more.

if throwing everything at winning the premierships comes back to bite us for a while well thats the price we pay I guess ,

At least we won the 3 and can hang our hat on that , imagine if we failed with that as well

It's a strange one as with players leaving & like Jack on most likely reduced contracts you would think there would be a bit spare.

But maybe Vlaustin Broad Baker etc all getting pay increases on their last contract signings is where it has gone.
Bolton and Balta also re signed would've been good pay rises Shai especially.
