Retirements 2020

Frawley Hawks has retired.
Surprised.
Originally taken in the 2006 draft one pick before our very own Jack Reiwoldt. Other key position players taken before Jack in that draft include Gumbleton, Hanson, Reid, Brown, Thorpe and Everett.

Not surprising he has struggled to keep up in the past two years.

we took a risk downgrading our pick for Polak - could have easily missed out on Jack

One of our few really good bits of astute drafting back then.

IIRC we found out that the Hawks were going to take Thorpe instead of Riewoldt with pick 6. The club then rightly predicted that Jack would slip through to us at 13.

We took a risk but backed ourselves in.

Apparently we finished off Ebert last night. Good career, great courage including last night.

Well we took the same risk in 2017 taking Higgins and CJ before Balta

Got the most out of himself and his courage can’t be questioned.
Wanted to play on next year but with that concussion last night effectively made the decision easier I guess.
In his presser Hinkley admitted as much. He would have taken it out of his hands.

Big H Taylor has pulled the pin, what a gun he was, seems a ripper bloke too, looked like he had the body of 80 year old at 21

Yeah - unusually for a Geelong player he wasn’t totally unlikable - and I did try hard
Good on him

Should have made the call a while ago that he would finish up this year. Probably not allowed to distract from Scablett's n Dangerclench's Grand Finale party.
From memory a lot of people laughed when the Moggies used their late first rounder on a mature age draft pick. He's had a bloody stellar career.

Yep a great player and was still playing excellent footy for them this year. Had a great finals series.
