This is from Footy week May 8 1987

I think paper on ran for one year, more glossy than IF

- Roach was recruited by Alan Schwab and Harry Jenkins.
- Roach admits that one club walked into his family home and offered him $7000 (it wasn't Richmond)
- GR got him to the club not by money but impressing his parents saying he had a good job and accomodation for him and sweet talked his mum saying she had a lovely garden.
- Loves the tradition of the old clubrooms and photographs at Punt Rd and seeing pictures of Captain Blood make him proud to wear a Richmond jumper.
- Said he would not have relocated to Brisbane if plans had been made to do so.
- The wild pig story goes that he Jess had put a wild pig in his locker  after a hunting trip and when they ran a lap of the tan together, Roach asked Jess what one looked like. Little did Roach know he would see one once the pig emerged after opening his locker and running around the rooms while 40 blokes stood on tables.
- Jacko was an intelligient man and had not changed from his Richmond 2nds days to 1987.
- Jewell was the best coach he had and should be congratulated for the quality of players recruited to the club that year (Terry Wallace)
- Royce Hart had biggest influence on his career and helped him out when he first started. Royce scribbled six main things to remember when kicking for goal and Disco was still using that paer in 1987.

Some other things from the paper
- Dipper and Capper had columns in the paper (at a fair guess they would have had a ghost writer)
- Brian Wilson was leading player of the year from Langford, Capper, Barwick, Lindner , Arceri and Starcevich.
- Big betting plung on Eagles to win premiership in their first year.
-Big Jack wanted to develop Princess Park as third best stadium in Melbourne.
- Capper leading goals with 29 from Barwick 28 , Lockett 27, Kernahan 24 Taylor 24 Mitchell 14
- Melbourne won night premiership

- pretty sure that version of Footy Week only lasted one year, the original edition was published in the 1960s and was a similar size to the old Football Record (pre 1994)

- maybe Roachy can pass on that bit of paper to the current list since he was probably the best kick for goal the club's ever seen (73% before he was played in the ruck in 1982)

- interesting comment re Jacko. I recall watchng a World Of Sport interview (maybe after he'd kicked a ton in our reserves?); he mumbled his way through it and didn't appear to have much self-confidence or much idea about anything
