Now there's an idea to warm the cockles of the old Tiger ticker.

Just out of curiosity though, how the hell are they gunna build enough naming stands to honour the legendary Taswegian players???
The Doc, Hart, Stewart, Huddo, Disco, the Riewoldts, Tiger, Rocket, Lawrence etc.

Gilmour as well.

Also as part of this package, a $130mil upgrade to York Park (UTas Stadium) in Launceston has been announced. Hence, the Tasmanian team will be playing between both venues which will have roughly the same capacity.

Interestingly a new basketball arena is proposed as part of the York Park enhancements, sitting next door to the football stadium. Hence that also consolidates the Jackjumpers playing at both ends of the state.

I would hope the Taswegian Govt. would be the "Owner" IE: the Tassie people.

Whoever 'owns' it on paper,

the taxpayer will pay all the bills and the AFL cartel will take all the profits

Thats sounds like a really dumb idea.

Pick a town and play and stay there.

Blend a 50/50 cascade/boags to serve at games, if you have to,

But dont treat the footy club like a kid in a custody battle

Give them the best chance of onfield success,

I always joked that a Tasmanian stadium would only please everyone if it is built in a paddock in the demilitarised zone, also known as the of the Cascade-Boags demarcation line, at the 42nd parallel.

Nah this is Tassie and it’s a Tassie team - 5 games hobart, 5 games Lonnie and 1 game on the coast. Tassie is the only state where more people live outside the capital than in it and we are the most decentralised state in Aus and is the most sensible way to get all 550,000 people to support it.

That’s why the hobart stadium is such a dum and divisive idea of the AFL - how to divide a footy public before you even start. get the team happening and then have the discussion about stadiums next.

It aint a city or suburban named team like Adelaide or Gold Coast. The only other team named like it is West Coast, all the others afl teams are very locality based.

Also, I always thought the 20th team would be one of the territories, ACT or NT, not from SA or WA.

Yes the Tassie wombats based 1/2 way between Campbell town and Oatlands - plenty of parking available.

Think of all the tourists who would attend - 100% cause no one bloody lives there ……………….. hmmm, apart from albino wallabies and the two headed devils…….

Tunbridge mate. Perfect location. Just off the Midlands highway near the Blackman River (terrible name). Better parking than at the MCG.

Reckon a team in Tassie is well overdue. However I think the 23 k stadium capacity is shortsighted not to mention the lack of roof covering.IMO this is a huge opportunity to expand on our nation's appeal worldwide. We have the opera house icon, why not turn this into a Bilboa/Guttenburg type of project? An iconic football and cultural stadium perhaps built on three tiers over the river Derwent enabling people to watch the last leg of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race from the vista.OK where is the money coming from you ask?I reckon there would be plenty of Australian billionares lining up for the chance to partake on something like this.

What an appalling attempt to placate Tasmanian fans sensitivities.
Yes, let’s overpay for a 22,000 seat stadium, but why stop there when you can blow more cash in the current financial climate to upgrade an existing stadium.

If you build it, they will come.
Just do it.
