Dimma says we learn more from losses. Our vfl must be well learned
Waiting to see what was learnt from the loss. Only watched a bit before switching to Sydney game. So many players going bad the recruiters are not that bad. Looks like Morro has lost the players (or most of them). Surely time to start a decent review of development and coaching Something is seriously wrong IMO

Morris wasn’t the correct appointment for our VFL team.

I’m sorry to say this!

Recent retired player ‘from the VFL program’ . True played at AFL level but was an honest player.

If the club doesn’t act at the end of this year I fear many of our young talent with stagnate, go backwards at an alarming rate.

Either the RFC get real serious heat or I fear that once our batch of senior players retire in the next 1-3 years we will be in a world of pain.

Covid can only be used as an excuse so far.
Development is the key to stay at the top.
A team not aligned with an AFL club has pulled our pants again down this year.
Our skills, discipline and game style is horrendous.

I will wait and see what transpires with our senior team tonight. If we see / I see similar traits again, we lose , then hard decisions need to be made right through the club.

I’m not over reacting. I’m seeing concerning trends from mid 2021.

If the club needs better coaches as assistance, development and our VFL program then Dimma needs to sacrifice some of his big $ for the future of our club.

If as he has stated he will not do ‘another rebuild or be part of one ‘ and AFL will not increase the clubs soft cap then ……

Not a ‘darksider’
Or a ‘brightsider’

I’m a ‘realisticsider’

If Andy Collins is stuck with the Dorks, where's Gary Ayres as Port has a new coach now?

Gary Ayres would be a horrendous choice. He wasnt even really coaching the Port team in his last few years, just did the matchday stuff.

I've worked in a few VFL programs, both stand alone and aligned ones.

A few common traits of the successful ones:

- VFL listed players are men, not physically developing boys.
- There is as much emphasis on winning as their is on development. This is a huge balancing act.
- The VFL listed players strong leaders on and off field.

Players who recently were on AFL lists is an easy way to start building those elements. That's why Morris was so valuable, he was a recently retired player, super professional, and a strong leader. Probably not there yet as a coach, but as a playing coach would be incredibly valuable.

Pertinent points that the Chicken Littles either don't understand or refuse to acknowledge

Why are the 2nds so lost then? I just can't see any system in their game every week.

Morris has been a terrific player and leader on the field. I may be wrong but I don't believe he has had the advantage of the formal coaching training that our other assistants have had. This is his first year and there were also soft cap issues which may have been a factor in his appointment.
His primary role is to develop players and we have a hat full of youngsters starting out their careers.
He would also be limited in where he can select them to play.
Needs more time.

We seem to have a very young side. Our AFL listed players are young except for Aarts, Parker and Caddy (now gone). We've given all opportunities to Ross, RCD etc.
Most VFL listed players are young or project players with only a few getting core games.
In short we have given ourselves a significant handicap and started further back from the field, especially the stand alone clubs.
No surprises we arent winning everything and have inconsistent weeks
