Phew. Big day at the worlds greatest race course. Copped a beating before Coolangatta got me a motza then Scallopini in the next. Good day in the end.

Fear the great Stripper might be on the way out. Will wait for a soft or heavy track before pronouncing the end, but todays last 200 was very un-Stripper like.
The Strip is done on good tracks. He may win on soft tracks still (plenty of opportunities in Sydney) but his best is past him on good tracks.

We saw one of the great performances on a racetrack today and the horse didn’t even win.

I Wish I Win broke 11 seconds for each of the final 4 x 200m splits of the Lightning Stakes. Ran his last 800m in 42.24, 400m in 21.17 and 200m in 10.91. That is incredible; unheard of.

He is some horse this one. That is the best performance you’d ever see without winning. Credit to Coolangatta, she’s a 1000m specialist and deserved the win. But you just don’t see what the second horse did. They won’t see what way he went in the Newmarket. Moody could set him for any race he wants, up to 1400m, and he will win it. He’s a gelding so stud value is not an issue. They will just chase the dough. All the rich sprints are at his mercy. Newmarket, TJ Smith, Everest, Champions Sprint etc. Made all the more incredible by the fact he is by Savabeel who throws middle distance horse. Very good sire.

The only horse that may give him trouble is Private Eye when he is fresh. Looking forward to them meeting.

Love the balls and conviction Chimpley.

But always beware the horse sitting camped off the pace, with cover, doing no work, then off fast peeling sectionals to not win.

Then are always overbet next start.

Maybe this horse will buck that trend, but history is littered with those that cost punters many $$.

Good luck!!

He did plenty of work from the 800m onward in a 1000m race Leysy. History is not littered with horses running those sectionals. This was not a 1400m or mile race with some horse scorching the turf out front and then folding so backmarkers could run over the top.

4 consecutive sub 11 second 200m sectionals. You don’t see that. Have a look at this horse’s record since he came to Oz. Won his first two; 4 length win over 1400m then a 1 length win over 1300m in a listed race where he came from nowhere to win. Then beaten 1.35 lengths in the Toorak; unlike the vast majority of Savabeels he doesn’t get a mile. Then he won the Golden Eagle against a crack field. Showed a blistering turn of foot and hung on over 1500m. Then today’s enormous effort.

1200-1400m is his sweet spot. He was almost brilliant enough to win over 1000m today. Moody is a smart trainer and will have him prepped for the rich races in these distances.

But ignore at your peril. I’ll get a better price if everyone thinks the same. Already taken the $4.50 for the Newmarket. In Secret $3.50? Pffffftt. She fell in against a bunch of B grade fillies last week. He will give her wind burn.

Some good racing today, plenty of value if you can find a winner.

Zapeto in the last at Sandown is good e/w value.

No. Straight outs. A couple of bonus bet returns though. I’ll get there….

Really liked Barber in the BD until I saw it’s draw during the week.
I just watch 2yo racing, I don't bet on them. Barber was impressive winning last start though.
