We as members/supporters are not historically remembered for our compassion toward poor performance(s). I'll wear a main offender tag on that one but there must be things at the club that do impose a positive future. I think Greg Miller is a good start but
who else are we glad to have down at TL and who should we target for both on an off-field positions. ??? We all know who should go but who do we want to stay and why ?

Ian Campbell's appointment as CEO is a positive for the future. The positive views of him from supporters who have met or heard from him and the new sponsorship deals seem to back that up. It's not the off-field stuff we have to be concerned about.

Early doors, but Ian Campbell looks like being a good acquisition. I think the off field structure is looking pretty right.

IMO we should be looking at a new assistant coach (forward line). Not sure what the contractual situation is there, but some new blood at that level wouldn't go astray. Possibly Alistair Lynch (if he retires) or someone of that ilk, either from Brisbane or another top club. Craig Lambert if interested though he may be more of a midfield specialist.

Would like to see Benny Gale on the board.

Higher profile No. 1 ticket holders (splitting hairs here!). Rex Hunt?

More recruitment people on the ground, around the country.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

I kinda get the feeling that off-field comments will dominate this thread.

Things seem to be going well in that department, but they aren't worth as much if they don't translate to membership sales or onfield performance.

I look forward to the kids stepping up a bit next year. I hope their natural game isn't stifled by negative coaching though.

Without question or hesitation Ox I would say that having Ian Campbell at the Club is a great move. I think long term - Ian maybe viewed as one of our "best off-field recruits". He has had impact fromthe day he arrived and continues to do so.

Also, I think having Richmond people like Des Ryan as sponsorship manager and Neville Crowe in corporate sales has been great for the CLub as well. Include in Tim Hibbett (apologises if I've got his name wrong) in the sales area and I think there is a good team off the field. There is another new fellow and I don't mean Trent the M'ship Manager but I cannot for the life of me remember his name.

The on-field stuff - well everyone knows I have different views than the majority on this site but...

You mention Greg Miller - agree with you again. I think from a playing perspective we do have some quality people on our list. Unfortuantely one of the best retired on the weekend and I would implore the Club to keep Bakes Cameron in some capacity. I think Flea Weigthman is an asset to the Footy Dept. as well.

We all cry out for Richmond people to be at our Club - well Flea is a Richmond person (who by the way Danny bought back to the club). He has put a lot of effort in with the young blokes. Brodders is another who is still at the club and is utilised by the Footy Dept. Not much gets said about that - but he is there everyday. These are positives in my book and I am glad to have these blokes still involved.

I am, despite others concerns glad that Tom Roach will be with us next year. We need young kids and a son of one of our own - has a positive vibe to it IMO

Without question (and without starting the great debate again) I would like to see KB back. Last wekk highlighted what he could bring the Club but at the moment it is a mute point. So there is no point going down that path.

I would like us to get a quality mid-fielder in the trade period - Nick Stevens or Luke Power are on the top of my wish list. I am happy for us to trade for young 21-22 no-name players if they are a Hadrill or Haydn from the Dockers

Dean, I think all the assistant coaches have one year to go on their contracts (same as Danny).

Dean mentioning more recruting people on the ground makes me think of our very own Redford.

Appoint Leon Cameron as skills coach.

From what you say mightyt It seems they are returning calls at Tigerland. I voiced an opinion via email early season and was happily shocked to find a meassage on my voice-mail from Greg Miller saying thanx for the email and that he was looking forward to being a Richmond person, even left a mobile number. After 1 year at the club you would expect big things given the poor season...here's hoping !

Apart from the off-field stuff, Brad Ottens is a positive.

Before being injured, he was inconsistent. He would have one good quarter and fall away the next. This season, he has been able to have a consistent impact throughout a game.

The good players were consistently good. Regardless of Coach or circumstances, they have been able to perform week in, week out. Why others find that hard to do is something we don't need to go into here. But if they can do it, you would expect others could too, if they had a mind to.

Some of us, me included, were calling for Marty McGrath to get a game sooner than he did, without knowing the reasons why he wasn't getting a go. He was picked when the time was right. Maybe they knew what they were doing after all.

The Club has accepted that it needed more support in all areas of the Club and has set about doing that.

We won't get to see the full impact of some of these things until next season and some may even take a bit longer.

However, there are good things happening. It's not all doom and gloom.

For the first time in a long time, we haven't imploded. Even though we've had enough chances to.

That's gotta be a good thing. Maybe now we will actually have a chance to move forward.

So far I've heard alot of positives but haven't seen anything positive...................they talk about Miller, Campbell, sponsorships, stability................all talk so far

What I've seen is all negative.............shocking list, shocking style of play, shocking attendances, shocking memberships......................I'll beleive what I see before what I hear..............based on that principal there has been nothing positive yet...............don't count your chickens before they're hatched people.

Positive outlook koalalill. It's starting to come back to me now, might even renew my membership. (on'ya Brodders') Agree with other comments too regarding getting Benny Gale otb and keeping Leo.C. as a skills/specialist coach (Knighter ?).Flea is a definite bonus as he really is a true Tiger person and proud of it, and of course the great K(29)B.I can see the membership drive now as the master returned, igniting a sense of closure on a preferably forgettable 20+ years. Before we chase a specialist forward coach ala Allistair Lynch,we need a full forward that is worthy.Be good to grab one of each somewhere along the line or did I miss something? As a team onfield we need to recapture the swagger, arrogance and pride that the boys' had an abundance of when we won our last flag.I'll never forget how much of a cocky, hard smartars Malthouse was as he kicked those perfectly executed drop punts in from the square.

Good to see a positive thread. Thanks Koalalill for your insights. It makes me feel better to realize that something positive is happening down at tigerland. I agree we need more ex tiger players' presence around the club in more prominent roles. This would certainly help with membership. I would like to see Crocker replaced as our forward coach. He's been there long enough. Looking forward to seeing Tom Roach play. If he plays as well as he handles the press he will be a star.

Best thing we've done in 20years now we just need to hold it together long enough for the people the club directors appointed to fix things to actually get a chance to do their jobs. Hope I don't have to hold my breath to long!!

I think you will find Broderick left and he took Chris Naishs job at The AFL.

Brodders - wouldn't mind him in the midfield in full cry!

That's one we retired to quickly. Might have lacked a yard, but he had the ability to cut a side with handball from the bottom of the packs!

PS - Koalalill, just noticed at the time of my posting, you are one off the big 4 diget post. Ya better make it a special one ;D

Well what a positive thread! Congrats everyone (well nearly every one!) it's a pleasure to read a topic like this for a change.

Can anyone clear up whether Broderick is still at the club or not...I met him a couple of times after games and was very impressed with him. And isn't the Flea a great advertisement for getting on with life and not letting health problems get the better of one.

As mentioned earlier on this thread Brodders left the club a couple of months ago to work at the AFL on their traineeship program.
Hopefully he'll play in a premiership this year with East Burwood (together with Sziller & Homewood).
