Game Day - Round 19 v Pies

That's someone in the club that has posted that.
Very distasteful.
Maybe we should post
*Moore is always injured.
*Wells is always injured.
*Adams 5 years more years always injured.
*Reid hamstring re-injured getting out of car

I understand the disappointment of some that we didn't bury them in the end but I think we need to be realistic. If this was the grand final I don't think we'd take the gas off the pedal but our game plan is a taxing one and it makes sense to indulge in a certain amount of preservation.

Yeah, don't want to be emptying the tank now. Finals demand another level - one we couldn't find 2013-15 or last year.

Everyone in the media banging on about the brave, injury riddled pies.
Just went back and had a look at the round 2 teams.

Now I know it's not like for like etc and other factors come into play but...

From that night, 6 changes to both which doesn't include Rance.
Since we have just produced a turnaround of 76 points.....
I think it's safe to say ......we have a better list.

*If one of you techno whizz's could post the graphics side by side (no pun intended). It makes interesting reading:)

Bottom line is we have set ourselves up in the top 4 with 4 games to go , destiny in own hands now. I think we can beat anyone anywhere, however would rather not travel to Perth, however who knows how the cookie crumbles losing the first final in a top 4 spot may prove beneficial not having to have another week off like last year.

Great draw if we play well having Eagles and Lions to finish with.

To be a game clear in the top 4 at the end of the round is a god send and to be able to play both 2 and 3 on the ladder on our home deck means we can determine our destiny - who would have thought pre bye.

Tigers are playing the cards they have been dealt this season exceptionally well.

It’s funny isn’t it. When we were hit with injuries and losing it was all “Richmond are past it”.

Collingwood, who 3 weeks ago 2nd fave for the flag after beating WC are now “brave” after losing to Richmond when down with injuries. The only one I heard getting stuck into Collingwood was big Rexy.

let 'em bang on about Mudpies ... it only makes us stronger ..

If this was the grand final I don't think we'd take the gas off the pedal but our game plan is a taxing one and it makes sense to indulge in a certain amount of preservation. Our percentage is back on par with most of the others and if we continue to win will keep going higher. The reality is we dominated periods of play emphatically, we evened the clearances and won the contested possession by negating Grundy which we wouldn't have expected before the game. Most importantly we have our desired game plan back. And we've shut up the Pies faithful. They can take their misconception of superiority back to their caves and bury it.

I fail to see how anyone could have even the tiniest shred of disappointment about last night. It was a complete, dominant, mesmerising performance against another contender, an age-old enemy, huge buildup. Absolutely over the moon!

Look, it is slightly annoying to let a 50pt win become a 30pt win.

But we’ve never actually done that over the past few seasons. We like to surge and then protect, for better or worse.

My worry is that we will finish equal points with West Coast and % will decide who gets the home final.
I’d rather play WC in the first week. Win it’s straight through to prelim at MCG lose and its probably a prelim vs Geelong at the G. Don’t want a prelim in Perth in 30C.

In August 2017 I went down to Geelong to see us lose a game... nothing went our way. Umpires destroyed us. Dangerfield killed Dusty. Caddy did a hammy. We couldn't hit targets, etc. But we only lost by 2 goals. After that, it was the first time I believed we could go all the way. And we didn't lose again that season.

Last night was the same 2017 moment. The moment where I truly believe we can do it.

For me, that moment came just before the bye, when the bookies fell asleep and offered 20-1

An incredible number of posts in this thread are preoccupied by what the media are saying about us. Remember, you have the option to make a decision to stop consuming all AFL media and just watch the games.

That’s what I‘ve done for 18 months and I’m happier watching. I see the shows as a manufactured, sophisticated version of a clickbait headline.

Ask yourself - when you’re watching AFL talk shows or reading the AFL-approved media, what percentage of your time are you listening to something genuinely insightful about the game?

How about on here?

Quitting the AFL’s slot machine media is totally worth considering.

Agree it was a complete demolition.

I was a guest with the Collingwood Coterie group The Woodman last night.
Pre game food and drinks, then level 2 watching the game.

It was a pleasure to hear the comments around me during the first and second quarters.
"Gee Richmond are clean"
"How fast are they?"
"We can't seem to break a Richmond tackle"
"How can Richmond be beating us around the ground while still having a spare man in defence"

There was a a bit of complaining about umpire decisions early, then that even dried up as these die hard Collingwood supporters realised that they were nowhere near
our level, and it was going to be a long night (and bye bye grand final hopes).

Went back inside at half time for some more drinks.

Couldn't help but notice that most of them didn't go back outside to watch the game again, but stayed inside for the second half .......

Wore my Richmond scarf with smug pride all night.
Great night!
