Dustin Martin

So we have KB, Royce, St Francis, et al, as our legends and immortals.

Dusty’s not there yet, but what more do you think he needs to do to approach that level...?

He needs another Premiership for sure. Maybe another B&F or two?

The Dusty Martins come around once every fifty years or so. ENJOY folks!

Martin is once in a generation footballer. We won’t ever see one again.
The best mids I’ve seen over 45 years, he matches Hird, personally I think he is better then Dangerfield and his only challenger might be Matty Knights.

Some of those frees against him were ridiculous.
Yep, it’s called the Dusty rule. He gets touched whilst in possession so it’s holding the ball. The one where he fumbled it on the ground and just as he got it, Hodge sat on his head and the maggot calls holding the ball. Umpire, if you don’t mind as Jack used to say. You compare that crap where he had no prior, did not try to take the tackler on because he did not have the ball and had his head sat on, to Yeo being tackled on Thursday night where he got spun 3 times and dropped the ball. My blood boils when I think about the idiocy and double standards.
Luckily Dusty is too good for the opposition and the maggots

A dead set freak of a player.
All those little, and not so little Dustymanics would've been in raptures last night, i know i was :banana:banana:banana:banana

Yep, he was getting caned in the first quarter, and was giving up easy kicks to the opposition. Great coaching. However, he needs a talking to, his midfield game lacked intensity.
Everyone stunk it up in the 1st, even Edwards who was best on. The more I think about it it just reflects what stupid high standards Dustin gets held to. Its no wonder he didn't make the All Ass team.

That's the issue. Read this thread earlier in the year, so many clowns questioning him. Crazy expectations. Dusty does it when he has to. One poor final in his career, and given his injury he should not have played. How many poor big games has he played otherwise?

He scares opposition players into error all the time.

And I loved the throw to jack, that was gold.

Absolutely spot on. What do these clowns actually want? They dont hold Danger or Fyfe to those same expectations. You dont ass your way to 6.0 every one of them contested.

The throw to Jack was a bit of poetic justice. He was royally *smile* by the umps last night so to get one so blatant like that missed was funny as hell.

I think with dusty at this point of his career, the way he plays , it might be too much to expect that standard week in week out through the home and away , I would imagine it’s pretty taxing physically and he has to pace himself.

We may have an Andrew McCloud type now , absolute game breaker when it matters most.

True JK. Poetic Justice is the best term to use. Professionally could've done better as he had enough space to get up / turn a bit and handball through the gaps to Jack, but seeing him laughing after, it paid the flogs back for the ridiculous frees we always cop against. Proof again, that they don't always see 100% of the play to make a correct decision when giving free kicks.

According to Nathan Burke on ABC grandstand this arvo Dusty goes 26% better in finals statistically. FWIW Rioli goes at +90% in finals.

Probably the worst great game I've ever seen him play. Ugly runs are the best runs.

That sums it up. Great game because he just, well, he's just Martin and he does *smile* mortals can only dream of.

Throwing him forward like that and having kick 6 must make the opposition tacticians have more sleepless nights. How do you deal Jack & Lynch plus the Mighty Mossie Fleet ? And if you manage to do that, Richmond throw Martin upfront just for the laughs.

What about the brilliant little flick pass on the boundary to Jack who goaled.

I'm still not convinced that we've seen the full Richmond playbook yet. I would love to see the stats but Dusty sitting in the goal square doesn't seem as common. Only 17 goals this year, basically one per. And had three in the North debacle. Take those out and it's even less. Reckon his heat map would show someone getting more ball behind centre. Every final we have won Dusty has been damaging forward of centre. We know what Dusty 1 out does.

But here's the rub, how many times have we had Dusty, Cotch, Ross and Graham in the same side? Not once by my calculation's.

Hello September.....
