I find it entertaining. Essendon, despite having 3 months warning, are shocked that Daniher wants to be traded to the Swans. Listening to them posture and threaten to keep him at all costs just reminds me how far back that club is in terms of creating an environment that players want to be part of.

Anyone who saw Dan Richardson's interview after the reported 'coffee' between Daniher & Tom Harley would have realised the player was gone from that moment.
Would be great to play poker against ol' Dan. They cooked his groins by overuse, know he's done & are as keen as mustard to move him on.
Reckon the final deal will be a first rounder & an exchange for late picks & the Dons will be happy with that.

Great culture at the Dons. They can't even hold onto a father son who barracked for them as a kid.

Why don’t Freo take Kelly in the draft at 6 or 7?

Probably risky as it could lead to someone else taking him. I don't think Gold Coast will do it, would be a dumb decision, complete waste of time when they are trying to build a culture, but they still have Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.

Outside the box here, but if I was Freo I'd trade Landgon and Pick 7 for Pick 3 and a later pick swap (maybe Melbournes 3rd (Pick 42) for Freos 3rd in 2020. Values Langdon about Pick 30, so probably in the right sort of number, Melbourne may have to give up a touch extra. Maybe a swap of 2nds this year too, takes them to about Pick 25.

Freo will either end up with a 3rd round draft pick where the top 5 are supposed to be a standout compared to the others, or they could threaten Geelong that they will just take him in the draft then. As I said I highly doubt GCS will change their view on the top 2, so he could walk there for Pick 3 and Geelong get nothing, or Geelong just accept the Pick 3.

They may think Kelly is a good bloke and won't walk out without them getting something back, he may well be a good guy but this is about his family and he's been there for 2 years, no loyalty in my eyes. He would still prefer to get to West Coast, but Freo have all the draft cards IMO.

Don’t think it’s a risk at all. Freo have a low enough pick to take him. If Geelol are being dickheads that’s their fault. No one other than the WA clubs will touch him. None of this is Kelly’s fault.

I'd still do the above trade if I was Freo anyway. Geelong think they are in a seat of power, but I don't think they realise how big a desire Kelly has of playing back in the west. There is zero chance he will stay but going in with demands of 2/3 first rounders is ludicrous when you actually don't hold the trump hand.

I'd love for this to fall flat on geelong and they lose him for nothing due to their own stupidity. No doubt they'd go crying to SHocking over it.

Geelong obviously see 2020 as their last real chance for a Grand Final. Happy to lose him for Sweet FA in 2021 as long as they get his services in 2020.

Hocking must have showed them the 2020 fixture and the new rule interpretations that will be implemented for Geelong

He's uncontracted Baloo. He will walk out on them this year.

Played his first game as a forward. Kicked 3 goals against the Dees and has hardly been forward since.

Wasnt the first time we saw Astbury play was in a JLT game in tassie against hawthorn and we got slapped, but he was our best?
January 2010?

Ah, I didn't realise it was this year, thought it was next. Then I can't understand Geelong's posturing, they really don't have much leverage

They have zero leverage. They gave that up last year by making him play 1 more year at the Salts

I really hope Kelly goes to Freo in the draft. The look on Salty's face when he walks out for nothing will be better than his face after the prelim

I hope it does come down to a walk out. Keep asking for outlandish trades Geelol.

Kelly will get to WA through Freo or WC regardless. Probably Freo. They'll probably make it happen with a fair trade. Not a trade like Salty and his mob keep spewing out.

The problem with all this is the potential impact it will be having on Kelly and his family.

I used to like and admire Geelol. But not since 2011.

That'd be right. I can't remember much of the 2010 pre season, I think I've deliberately deleted it from my memory. We lost the game against Melbourne in the H&A season, too, but I think he was probably one of our best that day. The next game he played he was in the backline and apart from a rare foray forward that is where he's been ever since.
Does anyone know what position Rance played as a junior?

Forgetting best 22 for the moment, you need a list of about 30 AFL ready players to have a proper tilt at a flag. Below is list of players and games played in 2019.

Menadue, Butler, Kmac all made contributions during the year playing a total of 29 games as depth coverage. With Ellis leaving, that is an additonal 23 games played.
Houli is one other player that may not play close to 20 games in 2020 if he starts suffering soft tissue injuries.
Higgins recovery is problematic.

Rance and Pickett are two obvious replacements that should feature in 2020, along with increased game time to Ross and Stack. Hopefully Balta will continue to improve. CCJ will play a few games. So might Egg and RCD, but I doubt no more than 5 games individually.

Replacing Ellis, I think we need both Kmac and Menadue on the list. One of them to stake their claim as best 22. I dont see Naish or Turner being ready yet.

The only leverage Geelong have is that if a deal isn’t done Kelly goes into the draft where someone else can snare him.

Ha. I just don’t know where Cox would be a better failure at, Collingwood or Essendon. I think it might be at Collingwood so maybe he should stay there.

Agree but who would pick up a player desperate to get to WA for legitimate family reasons apart from freo or weagles.

Weagles should hang tough and will get their man
