Trade Thread

Shouldn't be offering too much in exchange for their pick 6. They're a finals contender against us n I'd be happy to see them forced to pay as near as possible to full price for Green.
Gotta be some sweet candy to our advantage if we're gunna help them out, need to give them a little squeeze just to remind them of the pecking order. Maybe next years first n one of this years second rounders, or two second rounders this year if they need the points n two second rounders, or second n third next year for their pick 6.
Other clubs can easily trump those offers

GWS trying to trade up to pick 3 or 4 to get ahead of Sydney who will bid on Green

If they can’t they will trade pick 6 rather than lose it for Green

We are talking to them and offering next years 1st and 2 of 38, 39, 41. Others are also throwing offers at them. We are a good chance though
We should have Green anyway under the grandfather / grandson rule.

Should be a born to be a tiger clause introduced for Grandson of Michael. Just on that Michael was a gun big game player. Up there with our best during the Hafey era!

Still burnt by Conca ?

Well how's this for a stat. Since 1990 (the oldest I have a list of for National drafts) not 1 player picked #6 has made it to 200 games. Only 1 has made it to 150 games and that's Wingard with 161. You don't want #6 :) .

The Curse of Pick #6 is well known around these parts. Conca is one of the best pick 6 ever.

Quite possibly, but how much do you give away to strengthen the list of an opponent who is in the contention window against you? Probably plenty of lower grade clubs happy to give away extra to secure one early pick which may not strengthen them much overall.
No idea what trade values are on later picks etc, but we seem to be doing fairly well out of our mid range picks. Might not be much point the club going for a Hail Mary type trade.

Hey Bear, I'm not smart enough to understand the relationship between pick six and the curse. But doesn't Prestia have something to do with breaking the curse?

There are two schools of thought, both with volumes of peer reviewed white papers on the Curse. One lot feel Pick 6 is cursed no matter how you use it, the other camp believe it's only related the player picked in the draft at #6. Dion would add weight to the second camp.

The Prestia pick actually slipped to #7 due to GWS matching a bid on Setterfield, so this probably means Dion is removed from the equation. Likewise if we did trade in #6 it would most likely slide to #7 after a Green bid.

If the club rates Rioli Jnr as a first round selection next year then we should use next year's first round to get another pick in the top 20 this year.

Isn't pick six already pick seven this year because of the Mould Coast priority pick?

I think it was originally pick 5 (Saints), but went down to 6 after they were given the PP. Typical slide of recent years, I think between them GC and GWS have had something like 30-40% of the top three picks since they were founded.
