Coronavirus

If you're planning on doing online shopping, be aware that there's a delay for deliveries. On Thursday at Coles Online the earliest delivery window was next Thursday. IGA Online was malfunctioning and presumably couldn't cope with the traffic. Plan ahead and maybe place your next order after you receive a delivery.

There was a good article in The Guardian yesterday about the extra layer of unpredictability and ungovernability of a crisis in the Information age.

they weren't making a case for pulling the plug, but I reckon if I was boss cocky, I'd be thinking about pulling the plug and posting public notices on town halls.

everyones an expert, everyones an idiot was kind of the gist.

cant find a link, you'll have to search it.

opinion piece by a woman yesterday. good read.

If schools are to close from tomorrow how is this gonna impact working families?

We went through this a few weeks ago. Get in early and book a slot. They often open up slots at midnight for say a week away or whatever. By mid-morning those slots were gone. If the online store allows you to update the delivery while waiting, use it, it's handy.

But we also saw things die down after a couple of weeks though hand sanitiser is still very difficult to find.

How does self-isolation work in Aus? Is it based on a trust system where the government trust you to self-isolate, or is it enforced in that they check up on you to make sure you're at home, away from others in the household etc etc?

If it's the former, I can't see it working that well.

It can only happen with a country wide work from home policy or flexible hours. That's what happened here in UAE. Much more difficult to implement in Aus but if it needs to happen... Let's face it schools are the ideal breeding ground and closing them is a logical step to control transmission. Gov will also need to give grants and policy guidance on remote working to orgs.
I hope the BBQ pangolin was worth it.

Leader of the free world doing some of his best work.....
I suppose the Trump devotees would say even when the words are transcribed verbatim leaving the mouth of The Very Stable Genius that it's still fake news!

I'm sure he's trying to keep up public morale after the $80b stiumulus package arrested the stockmarket freefall on Friday. I don't think anyone, Trump supporter or not, believes the US situation is under control.

Barracking for Trump to fail is counter-productive because there will be serious blowback on the rest of the world if the US flounders, including us. You don't have to barrack for the man or the party, just the nation in its battle against a common enemy.

A socialist intervention to prevent the rich losing wealth?

But sadly not the case - 87% of the base think he's doing fantastically. Many still think it's a democrat hoax.

Reminds me of when he said "my promise to Australians is to keep the promise of Australia for all Australians"
