Yep, complete isolation for two weeks and then all five of us will be tested before we rejoin society on any level.

Fortunately no sign of any symptoms at all in any of us as yet. I think I've set a world record for taking temperatures in the past few days.

Govt is always Reactive instead of proactive. Confirmed cases doubling every 3 days means 7-8000 Confirmed cases by next weekend.
Experts say to multiply that by about 10 to get the true figure.

I don't envy decision makers in these unprecedented times of our modern era. They are damned if they do and we're doomed if they don't.

The word 'island' is the one. We are the 'lucky' country in that we are isolated away from most others. The exaggeration on some believing these cases are going to grow exponentially is the other one I don't agree with.

just watched a breaking new flash conference interrupting the races, from the NSW minister for health.

It was like watching a shaun micalaff doing a jo beijelke Peterson skit.

old bloke appeared entirely incompetent.

when asked about 1000 people on Bondi beach , he castigates people and goes

'this is serious, young people can die too'. as if people know if they are the 499th or 501st person to go for a swim.

then when asked about 2700 people being unleashed off an infected cruise ship in Sydney, he

goes 'well, people recover, look at Tom Hanks'

I am NOT making this up.

That's actually a good review of the options. Unfortunately our government seems to be more focused on A which will cause more economic strife than people are thinking unless of course these anti HIV and malaria drugs work.

I had an apt with my respiratory specialist today, one of Singapore's top respiratory professors. I asked him about the malaria/HIV cocktail and he's view is that everyone around the world is trying a scatter gun approach right now and jumping onto anything that might look positive. He then said the Chinese had been trying the malaria drugs from very early on in the pandemic but there were risks as the amount needed to combat corona were close to lethal doses of the drug.

He's genuinely worried.

OK, I didn't know that believing it wouldn't grow as exponentially as Italy or China was very dangerous. Must be a dangerous thought I have.

Its really the only viable plan. There aren't many businesses out there that can sustain more than a few months of cashflow without revenue coming in.

I've actually really started to notice more and more that I think Morrison is out of his depth. He and Frydenberg completely misunderstood the issues with their 1st package trying to stimulate the economy when that wasn't the issue, the issue was about preservation of jobs. NZ then came out and wiped the floor with him with their package, so he releases anothr focused on lending cash to businesses but which does nothing to preserve jobs. Now that the UK and potentially the US coming out with wage subsidies I expect Australia to do the same, they seem to copy rather than lead. NZ led from the front and will preserve jobs, I'm not sure we have done the right thing yet.

There was a comment from someone (not sure who it was) and it was badly reported as being "getting your super early" which wasn't what was being proposed (I don't support that). This was a suspension of the guaranteed super contribution and let businesses pay that directly to employees, which would ensure businesses could reduce their wage bills by almost 10% without actually paying anyone less (I know employees lose it in the future but this is about now). Seems like something the government are trying not to address, but for me, that along with other packages such as reduction in payroll taxes (which currently are focused on only small business, but that should be extended to other businesses that have reductions in revenue. Between these and a wage subsidy similar to what NZ have done, would reduce average wages by about 50-60% which would sustain jobs for a much longer period.

This still assumes a shutdown is only for say 2-3 months, much longer than that it won't matter what we do, a lot of people will lose their jobs.

I took the malarial drug they are talking up, chloroquine, as an anti-malarial in Asia in the 90's.

I had to stop after a week and take my chances with malaria it *smile* with my head and body so much.

side effects galore. if you had to take a huge dose, I reckon you'de want ankle and wrist straps.

I'd believe in 3 months at the most. Wouldn't you think suspending employment would be a more viable option for SME's instead of redundancy?
