Training

I love watching footy & I hope the season continues purely because it gives us something to do but the season is ridicuously compromised already. This just amplifies it.

More worried about next year & beyond whilst this virus is around.
I feel much the same as you. Just can't see how there won't be, and has to be, more positive cases that will just create so many logistical/health issues that it will become near impossible to continue.

Given the existing contradictions - players are supposed to follow all these strict protocols but then in some training sessions, and in games, they're all over each other - plus high-fives, hugs, handshakes because they just forget in the moment, how can it not spread?

Saw footage of McKenna all over Saad in a training tackle. Perhaps he was negative then but Saad (or several other bummers) could have spread it to another 5 players since, if he was contagious. Were all the Bummers definitely clear and safe when they flew to Sydney on the same plane as Norf. You can be asymptomatic or take s few tests to definitely show positive. Apparently you are the most contagious in the early stages when you may be just coming down with it.

It will be amazing if the season is completed IMHO.

The very fact its contrived and there is no certainty with the goal posts changing every week has me more than happy to shut it down.

The Players will lose interest if they haven't already, and tbh it looks as if the RFC players lost interest some time ago.

Yeah, it certainly looks that way. A few other teams are struggling with motivation too, WCE immediately springs to mind. I think Adelaide's problems are deeper.

Can't be much fun being in virtual lock down with their every move tracked & traced as well as adhering to constant health protocols. Yes they're professional athletes, yes they get paid plenty of money but they're only human.
Must have taken much of the fun out of it with everything they're having to adhere to.

Never thought I would say this, but I am leaning more and more to the season being cancelled.
Not finding much interest or joy in footy this year.

I'm still interested, but just not sure how long it will last, especially given everything seems to be a moving target.

I used to celebrate wins when you could only get score updates on 3UZ's around the grounds, so not going to games doesn't void the value of a win.

And I've sat in the cold through too many seasons when we've won only four games in thick mud, so I'm not going to give up on a season when we should expect to win enough games to make finals.

I think we will know by the end of the Saints game if there is any hunger left for the contest this season or not. It just hasn't been there since the break. Have they had the hunger to push themselves through the break after the success of the two flags.

Nah - it’s normal that most premiers are slow starters the following year.

Plenty of time yet. What i want to see at the moment is giving more of our fringe players a run.

Lose to the Saints and West Coast - I will be going all in betting to win the flag!
We only have to make the 8.

Im in two minds about this season.

No.1 Mind - we win the flag, and its a triumph of the human spirit. One for the ages.

No. 2 Mind - we dont win the flag, and its a farcical, tragic, non-event, circus.

Plenty of very dodgy "flags" across war years and early on that apparently count. ess have been a clear beneficiary
Let’s not forget Collingwood’s famed ‘four peat’, one of which they only won, because they finished on top of the ladder at the end of the H&A season, then lost the GF to Geelong, but because they were minor Premiers they were allowed to appeal the result and they won the replay. They often fail to mention this when they crow about the four flags in a row.

I can't drop my interest. The thing that's keeping me engaged is the fact that the melts will be epic if we manage to win it.

I’m finding myself more interested in the Punt Rd End commentary and analysis than the actual games.
