Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Was a lot of debate about Butler vs Castagna before Butler injured his ankle. Some of that was put to the test last night..
Castagna like others has had an extremely poor start to the season. He’s on thin ice.

I've been very surprised by George's lack of impact on the contest since his return. Another who's escaped a bit of scrutiny who really needs to lift.

He's been shithouse, but his only saving grace is that there's been others who've been even worse.

George has been poor but I believe the talk we've been doing some hard running training, and as a bloke who does so much up and back and all around, he'd have heavier legs than most. I saw a few signs the last couple of weeks, especially Sunday. Not touch so much as a bit of zip, and getting back to help the defenders. And now the Qld specialist gets on his favoured turf: he's played 5 games in Qld for 13 goals. He likes the warmer weather I think - bring on the (Will Feel Like) Summer of George!

LOVES the Sunshine State.
Let's go all in, and name George captain with Dusty vice.
Let's flex our muscle and deliver a tutorial on depth for the rest of the comp.
Go tiges!

What do you expect? Poor kid has been pumped up all off-season as a future AFL Legend until his eyeballs exploded. No one can live up to those expectations.

So it's all Zips' fault? Makes sense.

Hope you're right. ATM, I want Butler back ... for George, BEllis for KMac. I'd happily take Menadue back too for a couple of others that lack speed and kicking skill.

Our list could look quite different if Rance had made his decision much earlier.

ATM eh? Not six months ago and maybe not in 3 months time either?
Your 20/20 hindsight lenses are working well!

In the real world we don’t have Butler, BEllis, Menadue - and the Rance situation is what it is.
We can only work with what we’ve got and of those George certainly needs to improve.

I reckon Castagnafield hasn't hit his straps this year is because he wasn't put into the leadership group.

Bulldust

That’d involve George displaying even poorer form than what he’s showing on the ground
I reckon he a better bloke than that - just as I reckon he’s a better player than what he’s shown recently

Another “whisper” was it Zipman?

He is clearly out of form. Normally you see him involved in lots of contests, he's been missing in action this year, or, as Dyer used to say, he's always where the ball isn't.

Come on George, we know you can be more involved than this.

don't worry about george - like a wind up toy, he is currently being wound up to be released when the whips get cracking.

no other team can apply pressure like the tigers, and george is one of our best. This is what makes us a premiership threat. We will fall away big time if we go away from this and try to play pretty football.

Do you actually believe Castagna isn't playing well because he isn't in the leadership group??
I was joking
Calm down

George and pretty football? Nah. That's oil and water.

Bring on Captain Chaos.

That's why I used ATM. Meaning, 'George certainly needs to improve.' Not saying all these changes were avoidable at the time. The Rance fiasco has been very costly - it let the serpent out in Paradise.

For the record, was always a fan of the Ballarat boy, Butler, and hated to see him go. It looks churlish to object much in a premiership year, but I thought his loss of form and place in the side could have been temporary. Think he wanted to stay but felt he'd get more opportunities elsewhere, correctly.

With BEllis, no one can blame him for grabbing a great opportrunity to set himself up for a successful AFL career, RFC was not able to match GCS' offer etc. But he's a better footballer than KMac.
Not sure how many guys you can run in a team with poor disposal overall.

Fair enough
I always thought Brando leaving was a win-win coz it gave us the chance to blood one of the draft picks but it hasn’t really paid off at this stage
Likewise we should have been able to progress without Butler
Similarly in an ideal world KMac would have struggled to stay best 22
In all cases though we need some of those younger blokes to take their chances to become long term players

Tigers need George to lift now, along with the rest of the senior players.

No room for passengers now.
