We now have two players who can play on gorillas and release Grimes to be a general or smother a Cameron type. Happy days.
Noah will adapt - won't be doing too much different but not having to play on the No.1 oppo forward anymore is appropriate for a 25 gamer.
Balta stays back .
Would play him CHB depending on the match up of the FF.

That backline is pretty awesome now . As if it wasn’t before.

Those two release Grimes or Nick to play that sweeper , third man up depending on the oppositions dangerous small forward type ( which Grimes would get ) releases Vlaustin.

Then you have the runners Short, Baker Boy & Houli Douli.

Welcome back to Astbury. Good return after a long lay off . Welcome return .

Agree
A slightly different role for Noah, but I thought he was still pretty good, he saved a couple of goals on the goal line.
Good game from Dave, great to have him back, I hope he pulls up well.
Another important player. Him playing well and the inclusion, will mean two spares (Grimes and Nick) sharing the loading and marshalling the troops in position.

Fitted back in like he’d never been gone. I think he and Balta will work out their roles quick. The Crows really only have the one big forward in Tex. Dave being there will allow Balta the freedom to move further up the ground and use his athleticism and big kicking.

I thought Dave was outstanding yesterday. He is so reliable overhead.

Having him and Balta as the key backs releases Grimes to do whatever job is needed.

Our defence has conceded 93 points total across our last three games.

Not on average.

Total.

That is an insane number.

And Astbury is another brick in that wall.

I reckon there will be what use to go on with Rance, Dave and Grimes they work out the matchups between them these 3 now.

With Dave and Noah you can even choose to play Grimes on the weakest opposition forward - minimise his accountability and maximise the pain.

Structurally, having Astbury means it’s easier for us to double team the big forwards - Hawkins and Dixon - as we have two big defenders and our Grimes and Vlas can chop out more to help.

I don’t think we lose that much on speed as we still move the ball quickly but have better structure behind them.

Grimes has been off for two weeks. Noah has been until moved back to FB late on 02 Oct 2020.

Dave has won some decisive contests. Two or three over two games. But has failed to halve a few.

And when he gets the ball... Slow it down. D think. T look around. L. (We all saw the two exceptions.)

Mr Damien Hardwick was faced with some facts recently. He didn't seem to notice. And rushed, get ready for it, David Astbury back.

Since that inspired moment both AA Captain Dylan Grimes and budding star Noah Balta have been displaced.

DTL. Whoa.

Oh East Melbourne!
I thought he and Balta were pretty good. Vlastuin and Grimes both struggled and hardly got anything out of Houli and Bakes. Short kept trying but should never find himself on a player like Cameron.
