Welcome to the Tigers Marlion Pickett!

Not a huge fan, mostly because of his penchant to try bump rather than tackle and his horrible kicking. But in days gone past, he would have been a top 10 player for us.

I'd prefer Caddy, if he was fit.

You obviously love fiction

I can appreciate how a television or wireless coverage could make these accounts seem fictitious.

ive never heard a commentator yet go

'and over on the far side of the ground, 100m away from the ball, Pickett spots 2 loose players deep in attacking 50 AND OH MY GOODNESS!!! PICKETT closes the 60 metres in 6.5 seconds and completely stifles the opposition attack, which didnt actually happen because the ball was turned over on the wing,. BUT WAIT. OH THIS I S EXTRAOEDINARY, pickett is back down the other end leading up to the ball carrier IN SPACE. but although they kicked over his head and used a deeper option, Pickett just keeps running. Ladies and Gentleman, Marlion Pickett has just ran 300m without touching the ball. I wish you could see this'

Dont get me wrong, I kind of understand where the misunderstanding of Marlion is rooted.

It has taken the average tiger fan 5 years to appreciate Kmacs role in the side.

Now everyone loves Kmac. yes hes cleaned up his ball use, but his game or role hasn't changed.

The thing is, Marlion is twice the footballer Kmac is (and thats not taking anything away from Kmac)

he does everything Kmac does, plus heaps more.

In the 2019 GF, back when everyone in the world was an unabashed Pickett fanatic, he was a mid.

due to our midfield riches (the emergence of $hai), Marlion has been pushed out on a wing and an entirely different role.

and with no-one allowed to attend games, its the perfect storm of misunderstanding.

But fear not PRE'ers,

'Ol EzyT will never let you fall through the cracks. I will augment your understanding as long as there is meat on the ends of my finger bones.

we are all in this together

Yep. KMac explained his and Fish's wing roles perfectly in a Hun article yesterday. Maybe someone could find the article n put it up on here ( I'm lucky to figure out how the buttons on a key board work, so it won't be me).

It's bloody laughable how so many used to bag the *smile* out of Grigga n Bash week after week for playing very similar roles to KMac n Fish n then coz we won a flag they were suddenly better than sliced bread. Now we're doing exactly the same all over again.
These blokes complement the way our mob plays footy. We play hard working, often unrewarded low possession footy and we *smile* dominate the comp doing it. Four Prelims in a row, two possibly three flags in this period n the opposition coaches n teams still can't figure out how to stop us n shut us down. Yet still we *smile* n moan about how crap half our players are n how we'd be so much better if only FFS!

I can understand the criticism, but I've never seen Pickett play in person. Just not the same, you can't see how the team sets up on the TV.

Pickett definitely needs to fix his disposal. Doing a lot else right, so fix the kicking and he'll be unstoppable.

Also worth comparing him to other players who have stepped up to AFL level and are still adjusting. I mean, how many games has he played? Maybe 20?

He will get more experienced and better, meanwhile he blocks a side of the ground and runs around making a contest and holding his place on merit.

His mature body has become his trump card. Think his offensive game has suffered in order for him to play his role.

Currently a rookie so we are paying him peanuts. His efforts demand a proper salary and at 29 in the new year, if he wanted to return home for his payday and we get a decent offer, we should entertain it. The retention of the three B's is essential. Regardless, he has an unassailable place in Tiger history.

Id love to read the article if anyone can post

will you be going Friday night QD? (am I recalling correct your from the city of churches?)
Nah Ezy. :(
We're going bush with the caravan for the weekend. I got roped in by the son in law. My mistake, didn't think our boys would have to come to Adelaide (expected them to beat the Lions).

Better that I'm not there anyway. Likely to get in an argument with a toothless feral.

Won't miss it though, the van has a satellite dish!

The minister for a Kamdyn Macintosh would like to file a complaint against the minister for Marion Pickett.

Kmac half the player that Pickett is?

Only if you exclude ground covered, overhead ability, decision making, metres gained, contest work, kicking ability and defensive work.

It's true that he's half as good at giving away free kicks.

But they're both playing their roles beautifully.

And they're each individually 8 times the player that Brad Hill is.

There's one stat that can't be quantified that I reckon Dimma is massive on and that's filling empty space on the field

and reckon marlion is very good at this.

I just watched the replay.

After reading all the negativity surrounding his terrible kicking I thought I'd keep a sharp eye on his game especially his disposal by foot.

There was one pressured kick that missed slightly over the top of his intended target on the outside wing. Another was smothered on the same wing.

Other than that, his disposal was fine.

He gave away 2 high fees but was hard at the man and the ball all night.

Ha ha, he only had 3 kicks!

I think that is part of the plan, it appears he is an even better Player when he doesn’t get the ball.
