The lack of a penetrating kick as well as pace are 2 big strikes, so I tend to agree. A very smart hardworking player who will have a decent career, but doesn't stand out as someone who fits our style.

I also think he is the worst set shot I've ever seen.

George would like to challenge you on worse set shot

I would have traded Higlet last year, but we couldn't because brain thing. Cost us Butler. So we stood by him and extended his contract. Now he wants to leave for more opportunity but only to one particular side, limiting our options and ultimately our return on investment.

I won't boo him but I won't tell anyone who does to shut up.

Always struck me as a strange selection for us. Didn't fit the mould of high pace, elite endurance.
Astute post as usual, Spook. Never thought of it like that, that he might have cost us Butler, but it all makes sense. We DID stand by him through a tumultuous time for he and family; re-contracted him although not Dan, when clearly Dan was a '17 Flag hero and much more our type of player with his speed.

Altogether regrettable. He seems a little ungrateful to me overall, but I accept it's his career. So good luck to him, but people should remember that the Aints are building again. Haven't they beaten us well in 2/3 last home games with Butler winning the BOG award this year.

But they didn't beat us in the final, albeit missing 3 of their best they did get closer than Geelol. People need to remember this if that fate is reversed in 2021.

[Also wondering if we either have, or we're cultivating a bit of a 'special' relationship with the Saints? I'm thinking past players we have traded with them and the Frawley link. Just seems to be rather in their favour lately].

Basically a swap for a second round pick, which with the Saints on the improve will probably be high 30's early 40's? Not a great result.

Maurice Junior hopefully a big upgrade on Higgo
He's skilled and hits targets and the goals and he's a Rioli of Royal Rioli Blood....son of the Late Great Maurice, and gunning it as a junior as he has matured.

I'm going early on those bits and pieces alone and calling upgrade.

Underwhelming. Three flags is credit in the bank for a decade but geez I thought we could really get more.

Saints will fast become the new Brisbane for me.

The media will spend 2021 circle jerking over them again.

Now I was glad to see them up and about for their fans and for Ratten cos he's a great bloke but now they can GAGF.

If MRJ, (who will go 3rd round or above in this draft IMO), is an upgrade on Higgo maybe Saints should've just offered a 4th rounder to get the Higgo deal done;)

I had a feeling that Higlet was running out of funny jokes to tell in the huddle. Nothing worse than a joke that falls flat just before running out to play.

You remind me of the boxer who enters, flashy entourage, loud doof-doof music. Bell goes, charges out, throws a flurry of haymakers. Then cops a few sharp jabs (translate to specific points). Retreats to his corner.

Still had to give a 4th back. Why? Saints have obtained two good to very good players from us to back their flag aims in '21. We have draft picks, which are just hypothetical speculations atm.

Sure, it's not drastic to lose him. But, as I have already posted, while we are in the window, I don't see why we have to give the Aints handouts. But I won't lose much sleep over it. But you can find the link to Dan Butler's 2020 highlights from TigertIm's post
no worries love, you & StKilda win
