Already seeing the impact that injury to Rayner has had on Brisbane. He was a point of difference for them & seemingly ready to explode. Big loss.
The lions have a series of overrated players with him at the top. Had a boom on him his whole career and done 2/5ths of *smile* all. Of course now that he's out he'll all of a sudden be a gun they are missing. Rayner/Hipwood/McLuggage have big wraps but are little better than B graders.

In regards to potential AA players there is Neale & Andrews. I wouldn't rate any other player on their list as an A grader. Maybe Charlie Cameron.

I was looking through their midfield the other day and was shocked at how weak it is. Neale carries him on their shoulders, nullify him and they don't have a lot.

Neale (enough said, very good, got better since leaving freo)
Zorko - Is ok, but getting old now, not a full time mid
Berry - Good but not a great player
Lyons - Similar to Berry
Bailey - Nice midfielder, still learning, doesn't get enough of it yet

I think if you compare that midfield to the rest of the contenders, it will appear weak in most cases. They needed Raynor to step up and be a strong dynamic midfielder through there, but won't get that this year.

I’ve never thought their midfield is that great. Same with the Saints although they’ll be better with Crouch (if he plays much.)

Sunsets going ok. Hope Rowell is ok.

And there's the rub. On what evidence was he capable of this? I recall respected junior follower Bullus Hit having real reservations on Rayner as pick one. He did an 11 beep at the combine and Bully had serious reservations about him improving that aerobic capacity enough to play as a mid. There was little exposed form that he could transition to the midfield, and given the increased speed of the game and reduced rotations I'd suspect he would have struggled this year. And as a forward he's just average.

The Suns style of play has improved big time. You could see it last year. Much more committed to defending, setting up behind the ball properly, putting pressure on etc. Their tackling and pressure tonight is better than the Beagles so far.

Add a few more pieces over the next few years and keep playing that way, they’ll continue to improve.

GWS will be better off without Cameron.

Agree, and posted similar when I watched their last praccy game. Plenty of young KPF talent coming through.

The only thing that disappoints me about this is that I would loved to have seen us make a play for Himmelburg when JR finally hangs up the boots. But Harry is apparently happier up there now that Cameron is gone.

They desperately need another decent KPF at the Suns. Leaving too much to young King. Sam Day is 28, a number 3 draft pick and just simply doesn’t do enough. 2 kicks and 2 marks so far today.

Not good enough.

This ain’t right, Rowell deserves better.
Bloody rude isn't it. Shoulder in his fourth game last year. Knee in his first game this year. What's next? Does the poor bugger pop something during preseason next year?
Hate seeing players getting crapped upon by the injury gods.

Geez Day is shouse !! Terrible those last two contests beaten way too easily.

Was 1 on 1 with Hurn for 1 of them, Day apparently has 10cm on him. Wouldn't have known that from the contest he put up.

You have to give credit to Sydney. A great football club. The young talent on their list is scary good.
How did Logan MacDonald last to their pick?

Stephenson 33 possessions. Phillips 21. Treloar 18. Early days but handy for all 3 clubs.

I can sort of, maybe, make a case for them recruiting Smith for that type of run.

I have no idea what they thought Higgins would add, in any capacity.
Smith is an odd decision if you think of the fact that thier dunghole ground has no wings, where exactly is he supposed to run?
