The only sash that Bolton will be sporting into the future will be a yellow one.
Won't be going anywhere. Carr is doing what most managers do ... create some outside interest to push the contract dollars upwards.

Showing off for his family and friends tonight. Can't blame him too much really.
Disagree, he still has to use his brains and not try to be superman doing too much, trying to evade or break every tackle. Last week he got away with it but WC are better tacklers. Got caught with a great tackle late in the second qtr when he had time to dispose of it. Then the umpire missed the push to his throat when he was on the ground, so the free kick should have been reversed but of course he had a tiger jumper on.

Was off last night but still had a patch when he looked like blowing the game apart.

Missed some sitters, if he kicks those he is BOG and ripped another game apart. Fine margins.

Essendon lol. Stay in your lane Dodo.

He won't have to offer us anything if Bolton is out of contract and goes into the draft. And if he puts terms like 5 million over 5 years on himself then they would be pretty confident no other club will risk an investment like that in a player who doesn't want to play there.

If Bolton hasn't resigned by the time we play our last game then I think we are going to have to learn to enjoy the taste of *smile* sandwiches on this one.
No one does that. It’s in no ones interest to put themselves in the draft with a massive price tag on their heads. It’s football suicide for the player, his agent and the club in question. If he leaves we will be compensated.
But we won’t have to worry as he isn’t going anywhere.

Won’t get past North or Hawthorn. Both have loads of cash to spend.

Houli and possibly Dave will retire this year and Jack's taken a big hair cut on his next contract by reports, so I reckon there's cash enough there for Shai.

He gets paid before we look at bringing in a high price tag interloper.

No one goes to the draft. He'll re-sign or be traded.

It would be unusual but this is an unusual situation. Most out of contract players looking for big wages are restricted free agents and beyond or they are gun young players who have had opportunities at a developing club and are resigned because there is cap room.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of another time there was a 22 year old at a powerful club who was playing such good football and was also out of contract. It's rare for young players to be established as guns in a team at the level of ours. Maybe Joel Selwood who I remember took a lot less than he could have.

Maybe, but if he is staying in Melbourne then it's probably just an issue of money so he may not even care.

This is Ralph Carr 101. If he stays in Melbourne, it will be with us. If he leaves, it will be to go to WA. I think he'll stay, we will have some deadwood to go at years end along with a few retirees.

I think you are overthinking the scenario here TBR. Nothing new here. We faced it with Martin and our other A graders.
He is a kid on the rise playing at one of the biggest clubs in the land. Ralph knows he maximises his value here, as he did with Martin. There is nothing to see here.
The club also would have prepared for this and would have been in talks with Carr for sometime. We are now one of best in list management. The money is there.
Talks of him considering Essendon or Freo is just *smile* in wind stuff.

If he was leaving he wouldn't have jumped in and belted the guy that hit Dan. He ain't going anywhere.

So you think Shai is purely motivated by money alone?

Im not convinced he has the strength to knock back the big money when the offers start coming.
We as a club need to give him a reasonable offer (550-650k)
And then its up to him to decide if its better elsewhere.
