Not sure if this draft is as good as was being predicted 12 months ago. Heard Rendell and others saying last week that they believed it drops away badly after the first 12 or so. Particularly poor for kpp’s they felt.

You gotta remember Rendell's an idiot.
Yeah he said earlier this year they should trade out Grundy, play Moore as their first ruck and move Irishman Keane to his spot in defence. One of many foolish ideas

If we have Cerra and Narkle lined up to come across in the trade period, would we be happy to miss the top 30 picks of this draft?

Why do people want Narkle? Been in the system long enough and can’t hold down a regular spot in the cats side. We have plenty of our own kids who not quite good enough

Because our starting midfield next year is likely to be RCD, Pudding Guts and Dow without him.

Cotch will retire. Martin wants to play forward. Edwards will be on a flank. Prestia can't get on the park and Bolton is likely to leave if we don't show something soon

The Kpp comments I think are due to there not being many talls in that top 5 or 6 picks. The elite of the elite. To me looking at a lot of rankings there is plenty of KPP options in the 10-30 range of the draft.

Yeah but I think history shows that at least where KPF's are concerned, not that many turn out to be all that good beyond the first 20 or so. Could be more than I'm thinking but even then you're still in competition with every other club too.

Narkle is a lazy player, his second efforts are *smile* .
We use our first pick on the draft ,our Geelong pick and maybe a second rounder on Cerra, and see if we can upgrade some picks ,will be a interesting Trade time this year.

He’d be a bigger whipping boy than Taylor Hunt.
I’d give Prestia and Lambert the rest of the year off to get there body right and be good to go next year.
Bolton won’t leave (we need to keep him)
Hopefully we bring Cerra in and draft a mid with our 1st pick. We need to see who is going to make it out of Rcd, Dow and Martyn. Just play them for the rest of the year and see who stands up.

Cerra will cost one pick, maybe a first and a second. Narkle will cost a third or fourth rounder.

What's your plan to get pick 1?
If we were to attempt attaining pick 1 its probably one of the better times to do it IMO.
Presuming North holds the pick 1 and only have 2 other picks under 40 whilst considering our solid haul of picks this year (and any other pick that comes our way if player/s decide to leave) As well as our 1st or 2nd next year I see it as a possibility that something could be done.

Do I think it will happen ? Nope , but depending on how the rest of the season goes as to where we finish on the ladder I think its fair to say if things
keep going south for us this year other clubs may look at our next years 1st as something that may be quite valuable.
Now that gives us 2 x 1st's this year and a future 1st that would been seen as gold as everyone loves seeing us fall over so they'll be instinctively thinking
we'll miss finals next year too.

While there's a lot of people pretty quick to say our windows closed, I disagree and think when you have 1 of if not the greatest footballer to play the game active on your list I say you push the chips in and go for it.
The balls in our court to do what ever the hell we want this year so if it comes to trading up in the draft , I think there's enough carrots to dangle.

My actual preference would be poach some quality midfielders and build a gun engine room and with the players we have ATM there's no reason not to have a crack at a few more flags.
We just got to get that engine room right, its our Achilles' heel and if that can be sorted in 1 trade period its game on again.

yep. for these reasons it's become an important draft / trade period.
our prime movers are showing signs of wear and tear, and whilst I don't think they're cooked, they're getting on.
on that - Have we hurt our chances at Tom Green by letting his brother go?

Not sure but one of his team mates is out of contract ATM and would be perfect for what we need.
