Pre Combine consensus seems to be that Ward and Hobbs will be off the books before our pick. If that remains the case, (who knows) then we’ll need to do a deal with the Chold Coast if we wanna get either of those two. If we do, then you’ll know who we’re taking.

Ward definitely. Not convinced Hobbs will be gone. Expect Erasmus and Gibcus to be gone also. Expecting West C and Freo to duel for Erasmus and Amiss in the top 10

We should do a deal with GWS and get Callaghan.

We drafted a small forward, Higgins when we had a bunch of them already.

CCJ over Allen, Taylor, Ryan, De Koning. Worst of the bunch.

Balta makes it bearable but it’s a stinker.
Disagree Scoop.

From a recruiting point of view, 2 players have been poached. That indicates other clubs think they can play, otherwise, why poach them?

This isn't a black mark against our recruiters. It is however a black mark against our list management.

yeah I know its crazy talk.

hypothetically, if your were sure Jason Horne was a 250 game star mid,

you'de offer CCJ, 7 and 15

for No.1, wouldnt you?
Even then i doubt i'd do it, it's too much for 1 player. It's almost (with later later picks of course) what the Pies will have to do just to get Daicos in the door.

And there we have it! The first use of 'prototype' for the draft season! Congratulations, Cal! (Nobody tell Cal that a prototype is an early model to test a concept, and 187cm wingers have been around since Frank Marchesani.) (Not that Cal would know who Frank Marchesani was.)
kinda sounds like the media's use of the word "moneyball" at this time of yr

I wouldn't even put a black mark on our list management, the ones who have left have gone or are going for better opportunity than we can give them at this stage.

Western Australia and South Australia will play an under-19s curtainraiser at Optus Stadium on Grand Final day. Game is locked in for 1pm start time and will see a stack of the best prospects for this year's draft take centre stage - C.Twomey tweet

They say Erasmus is still injured and wont play, gee I wonder (I know its hard to believe), if he is being hidden a little to stay in WA. Hard to think they'd do that but he's been unable to play since early 2021. Bummer, wanted to see his development.

That’s the definition of bad list management.
We didn’t need their types at the time.
If we had drafted even one of Allen or Taylor ( KP players ) our team balance would look completely different.
Garthwaite and Miller would probably both already be gone and we’d be loading up on midfielders this year knowing that all our other needs are covered.
And I’m still scratching my head over the drafting of Sampson Ryan

Agree totally with the Ryan pick & the CCJ pick purely because it goes against my number 1 rule - never select ruckman from the draft.
Its a complete waste of time and list management, always better to poach and pay overs for an established ruck who has done their apprenticeship at another club.

This young bloke sounds alright, has had a quad injury.

He kicked 4 goals as a 16 year old in last years WAFL Colts Grand Final which is an under 19 competition.

Poached because they a) weren't good enough to take someone's spot or b) drafted in areas we already had players.

It's a failure by both but the first mistake was drafting the wrong types.

Think there is a chance Adelaide take him.
If Freo get the blues pick 6 for Cerra then freo take him then

*my speculation only
