I hope for Vossy’s sake he asked to see their player payments before signing on. They have been spending up big on recruits in recent seasons and look like doing it again. All this money spent and they aren’t even a finals side yet. How are they going to afford fresh players to take them from a top 8 side to a genuine contender?

The last team to splash a seemingly endless amount of cash on recruits was Collingwood under Buckley and we know how that turned out.
Doesn't matter. Apparently they're in for Hewitt, Cerra and anyone else available just about. It's - 'rumored to be going to Cartoon' or 'rumours Cartoon are interested.'
Salary cap there is not soft or reduced; it's elastic.

They were prepared to pay whatever luxury tax it took to get Clarkson aboard. The Carlton of old...

I'm pretty certain if he has a good playing list he will be a better coach than if he doesn't.
To be fair I'm sure he will be a better coach second go round with his extra experience and errors from the past.

He will a few more decent players in to build them up.

Yes, his hubris brought him down in the Brisbane job. Even Lethal said in his opinion he didn’t think it was possible for someone to take on a senior coaching role without doing an apprenticeship in the modern game.

Can't wait to see Crazy Vossy's coaching panel. Fevola @ Defensive Coach, Silvagni @ Midfield Coach, Akermanis @ Player Development, Jarrod Molloy @ Team Culture.

From a far don't reckon it is a bad appointment, but it was obvious the Blues were always going high profile.
Kingsley, McQualter etc never had a chance.
They wouldnt do it any other way its their DNA they tried to go away from it and failed.

They might as fail instead doing things the way that they have always done them.

Tell you what, I dunno about him as a coach but gee he was a super player Voss. One of the hardest head down, straight through players I’ve ever seen. Still remember a Lions v Pies game at the G I went to years ago - he was totally brutal his attack on the ball that day. Just a steam train.

Heard Riewoldt or someone saying the other day that he was the hardest player they’d ever played against.

Yeah he was a great player. One of the best in my time.

Not sure that will translate to being a great coach though. He certainly made a meal of it first time around. No doubt he’ll be better now with experience as an assistant but no guarantees. And quite frankly because it’s Carlton that he’s coaching I hope he has no success.
