yep that's a concern. hoping we haven't put all our eggs into a dud draft basket
Its not a dud draft
Its like the Twilight zone draft.
Pick 55 might be the best of the lot.
This is the Melbourne cup with no form guide

Excellent point Zips.

I also think we want a plug n play midfield gun for our genuine flag tilt in 2022.

Pick 9 might deliver us that, but Pick 1 would absolutely deliver that.

Whatever the case, a top ten mid plus a Hawthorn extractor will change the face of our mid roster

I’m prepared to go with that but Redford is adamant that we do and he’s a solid source.
we made Moore a massive offer. And Rance Dave and Houli are off the books. Unless we signed Bolton and some others on big contracts.

They're waiting to resign Castagna on a multi million pound deal.

Balme said just this week that our salary cap is still very tight so it looks extremely unlikely we will be bringing anyone else in.

So as of today and up till the draft, player trading is over.

this means, picks can only be traded for picks, this puts us in a very strong position because we have more draft capital in 2021 than any other teams

Draft night is going to provide plenty of opportunities to slide up and down according to our rankings of players

Plenty of options with 5000+ draft points in 2021, and all our picks in 2022, + Nths 2nd rounder in 2022

In Blair we trust

if we are to use all our draft picks (7,15, 26, 28, 38, 40, 83) how many more players do we need to delist? be a shame to pass on an under 40 pick. 83 will be a pass. Thats 6 new kids. We have added Tarrent and out goes Chol, Houli, Naish, Asbury and CCJ. Was Chol a rookie??? To use all 6 picks a few more need to be delisted (as maybe picked up as a rookie) - Miller, Martyn, Cumberland??? Is Egg officially delisted? interesting next few weeks coming up as we posture the list

Reckon we only take 3 or 4 players max Pops.

We'll bundle our later picks for a higher selection.

On that which clubs would be keen on more multiple picks? Pies looked like main ones but there all set?

Hopefully we can use them to move up the order this year not next.

Our rookies:
16 Jake Aarts
31 Rhyan Mansell
37 Matthew Parker (mis season)
43 Derek Eggmolesse-Smith
44 Sydney Stack
46 Ben Miller
50 Marlion Pickett

39 Mate Colina (B listed)

Under AFL rules, players who have been on the rookie list for two years or more can reject another rookie contract and become unrestricted free agents.
Normally, after three years they can't be listed on the Rookie any further. However in 2022 that is allowable as a "replacement" year due to Covid.

So those being retained we know of: Pickett, Mansell, Aarts, Parker, Chol
Likely: Stack
Unnannounced: Potentials to go: Eggs. Miller

Out of Contract Senior:
Houli, Astbury, Naish, Chol, CCJ, Cumberland, Nyoun, Garthwaite,
Snr List Outs: Houli, Astbury, Naish, Chol, CCJ
Snr List Ins: Tarrant

36-38 Senior listed players.
4-6 Rookies
2 B list Rookies (we have space for 1)

Our Rookie list is packed.
We need to delist Eggs. His spot would then be taken by Parker. Therefore, 6 rookies on the list, if we retain Miller....but

Of the Senior list, 4 outs, means we can take picks 7,15, 26, 28 to the draft.
I think we say Goodbye to Garthwaite. That gives us pick 38 back.
We say goodbye (possibly temporarily) to Miller. That gives us 40 to take to the draft.
We re-contract 2 of Cumberland, Miller and Nyoun and possibly put one of them on the rookie list.

We go to the draft and try to move back up, taking 5 new players this year. That will give us 1 list space.
We re-contract one of Cumberland/Miller/Nyoun as a de-listed free agent if we're successful with trading out picks.

Having our cake and eating it too.

NB: I thought Chol was a rookie, but couldn't verify it and can't see how we'd get free agent compo for a rookie listed player. So assumed he was senior listed.

We only currently have 3 list spots on the main list free. With signing Parker, we need to clear another list spot being as Soldo comes back off the inactive list.

FWIW, I think we delist only Egg and Garth.

I think the bigger question is, how many list spots all other clubs have.
The ones who we should target for trades are clubs with only 1 pick in the top 20 and then nothing until fifty odd.
Then maybe we can offer our picks and move into next year with our later ones, maybe swap a 3rd this year for a second next year if a club has a player on the board they want and we dont rate.
Put the call out to all clubs, we will take all picks to the darft, picks 7,15 untouchable, but we are open to deal for any other picks we got.
Try and improve next year as well, get rid of our 3rd round next year and 3rd this year for a 2nd next year, have 3 2nd picks next year as well. Options galore if we can find a club to deal with.
But as they saying goes, you need to give something to get something.
