The moment TP decided to send the photo he was cooked. Made a bit of a *smile* of himself literally. A very costly moment of stupidity.
I'm actually surprised he was given the gig if this was known information at the time he was appointed Skipper so the ACB has to wear plenty of this embarressment if so.

It's a real shame because he's been a tremendous captain in the rebuild since sandpaper gate & unfortunately I'm not sure he's going to be remembered for that after this.
If he hadn’t sent the photo I think he’d still be the captain.

True, but it did cost us the chance to see what may have been the best Test Captain we ever had.

Probably something to do with the 63 counts of stealing etc that are currently pending in the Hobart Magistrates Court between the lady in question and Cricket Tasmania.
I see. Using it to bargain for a better deal. Can't see how the courts will care but i assume some sort of revenge factor against Cricket Tasmania.

Haven't CA put Paine on all these respect and responsibility type committees and review panels. And they knew.

Must say, I've never really understood the whole contemporary cultural phenomenon of sexting and *smile*-pics.

Leaving all the moral and/or criminal aspects aside that surface from these situations, it just makes no practical sense. What do they (blokes) think it's actually going to achieve? Totally fruitless. I'll engage in the odd flirty text with my wife, but never delve into outright crudeness (there's a massive difference between the two, which many blokes' tone deaf level of EQ seems to miss). For the simple reason that it's always seemed self evident to me that women generally aren't into that. Maybe blokes watch too much porn and see a saturated level of crude dirty talk coming out of the actors' mouths and forget it's not the real world. They are just that - actors.

Not to mention that sending texts like this (particularly leaving yourself wide open by engaging in it outside of his marriage), it is out in the digital world for all eternity, to rise from the dead at any moment and destroy you.

Again, leaving the moral aspects aside for a moment, it's just so dumb, dumb, dumb from so many angles. And I will never cease to be amazed at how seemingly intelligent people in society keep making this mistake over and over again.

I think part of it is the forbidden aspect - people like to take risks. Of course it's particularly dumb when you are in the public eye.

Good doco on this about Anthony Weiner (no joke) who was running for New York mayor and was married to Huma Abedin, top adviser to Hillary Clinton at the time. Did it multiple times, threw away his political career, marriage and did jail time.

Might be opportune to get this guy back involved with Australian Cricket;

I wonder if one of those charges are for stealing Paine's heart;)

Paine was always pulling a gag when he was keeping, it seems that wasn't the only thing he was pulling.

How'd Chappelli desrcibe 6 ers, That's a big 'un! :))

Seriously, how does this come out now after all this time?

And that doco on redemption where JL says that Painey was the best person morally to be Captain.
I'm paraphrasing but was something along those lines.
So even then they would have known about this and they still picked him.
They must have known this would come back to bite them at some stage.
As posted by others CA is a strange organisation.

Might be the S K Warne influence on me, but I never understand these things.

Leave it between him, his wife and his mistress, if it's not illegal then it has no business becoming a matter that has anything to do with cricket, captaincy or otherwise.

The morality stuff is just a joke, it all depends on where you plant the flag. Cheating on your wife is immoral to some, but so is having sex outside of marriage to others.
Lucky being a moron isn't illegal too.

I looked at the scorecard earlier, Vic's are pretty much a bunch of no-names, haven't heard of about half of the 11.
Yes, keep an eye on Merlo, got the makings of a good allrounder. Got 5 wickets in his first shield game and a hundred in his 2nd game......I think.

The woman involved raised it as workplace issue/harrassment I guess. If it's just consenting adults then yeah, it's not a problem.

I still don't follow the logic though because an investigation into the workplace complaint resulted in no action, and judging by the texts we've seen it's easy to see why.

So we are still left with a bloke who is only guilty of doing the wrong thing by his wife and we don't even know that for sure.

Just to top it off it seems he is no longer fit to lead his country but just fine to represent it.

Yeah, it's a bit weird. So he's been asked to step down as they became aware the texts would become public so they pre-empted it. I guess that then is an issue for CA - they don't like the look of a married test captain sexting a woman who is not his wife.

I suppose it could be argued the captain could be held to a higher moral standard than a regular player.
