Gold.......! (Stan)Anything but!
Thought I'd stick it out to see how it ended.

Would it be spoiling things to say this is really *smile* house? When the writer, producer, director gives himself one of only 3 real roles ya know it's gonna be a dog.... actually the dogs are the best actors of the lot!
Yeah, I liked the premise...but gee it really could have been done better.

The Worst Person in the World. 4/5.

Norwegian drama with a smashing performance by the lead, who won best actress at Cannes.

Definitely not for the puritanical but deliciously engaging for anyone who wants to re-live their 30s.
Mate, the last couple of years I've come to the conclusion the best stuff in the world is probably coming out of that neck of the woods - Norway and Denmark in particular. (South Korea in other parts of the world are pretty high up there as well).

Watched some great recent movies and very impressive TV shows. Still got a few to tick off but I'll get there, with some time :giggle:

Norwegian TV Shows - Norsemen, Ragnarok, Beforeigners, Occupied, Lilyhammer and Skam.
Denmark TV Shows - Borgen, The Killing, The Bridge (Bron/Broen), 1864, The Rian, Ride Upon The Storm
Denmark Movies - The Hunt 2012, Land of Mine 2015, The Guilty 2018, Another Round 2020, Riders of Justice 2020

Looking forward to your in depth Academy Award's preview scotty
Six of my top ten for the year (listed a couple of pages back) ended up on the Academy’s best-10 for Best Pic. Not sure that’s a compliment these days.

That said, I canned The Power of the Dog, which got 12 or so nominations.

Very happy to see The Worst Person in the World (flagged on these pages) get two nominations (including Best Original Screenplay).

Also happy to see The Queen of Basketball get nominated for Best Short Doc. I’m not into basketball but I put a link to this on the PRE basketball thread a little while ago. I loved it.

Anyway, my picks never win but hope CODA gets supporting actor. A wonderful performance in a somewhat cliched film but the one that moved me the most.

Why are there so many different Batman and Spider-Man movies with different origins to things ? Different actors etc. Very frustrating.

Bring back Adam West and Caesar Romero !!

I’m over half way through The Many Saints of Newark (started it late last night, will finish the final 40 minutes tonight) but found it underwhelming. It’s more focussed on Dickie Moltisanto (father of Chris in the Sopranos) with Tony Soprano (played by Michael Gandolfino) very much a secondary character (so far)

Managed to get my hands on the complete set of the original Batman series. About 100 episodes over 3 seasons. Brilliant stuff. The "WTF?" look from the kids is priceless

Kimi. Hitchcockian thriller from Soderbergh. Rear Window meets Blow Out for the digital/COVID age. Pretty good. Big bonus: lean run time, just 83 minutes. Additional bonus: Zoe Kravitz.

A series but not a movie, but have you watched the High Fidelity reboot with Zoe K spook? I loved it, she's very er... watchable

Will check out Kimi, generally like Soderbergh. His Mind Hunter series was really good even if the colour palette turned everyone yellow for some reason.
