Watched replay of the first half yesterday. Rioli was awesome. You can see the confidence grow in front of your eyes.

Yes, he’s playing so well right now.

I wasn’t seeing the fit last year at HB, as he was slow to move it on and often turned it over with bad kicking. Maybe it was a struggle to adapt, or symptomatic of how poorly the team was playing. He’s been much more fluid this season. Long may it continue.

I think it all boiled down to confidence. He'd really struggled in the forward line for most of the season and that's exactly what was happening there too, he'd be very slow to move the ball on quickly, scared to take the game on. He has his mojo back.

He has been sensational this year.
Is this the break out year or the 'Justin Pickering' year? Where still waiting for him to play well after 1991.

Killing it this year. I’ve been extremely critical of him as a forward for a while, and thought trying him as a defender was a waste of time.

I was as wrong as the day is long. Happy for him.

We’ve invented a terrific small defender. Locks down instinctively and is deadly with that closing speed. They just can’t find separation on him. Absolutely destroyed Pickett and gave us some run and high percentage delivery off HB.
I reckon he might be starting to fancy himself as an intercept marker too, just quietly.
Not sure about that.

We have no tackling pressure in our forward line and we’re looking to stagnant
Need DRioli forward and Baker back where he played so well during :cupgold
 
The youthful royal would not accept defeat tonight and yet could not triumph.

He was more wounded by that than we were.

Daniel Rioli is tracking ok. He is an emerging elite HBF. Brilliant in defence. Learning to rip the game apart. The way he rallied tonight was inspired.

Bravo.

playing great footy at the moment. it would be interesting to see how many many disposals he would wrack up, and how effective he would be if he took kick ins and we given licence to chase cheap kicks like some other small backs.

Kozi is turning out just like other staging small forwards like Cameron & Weightman. Pathetic the way they look for frees.
