Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

What a bunch of dumb xxxxx we are
Whinge whinge whinge dangerous tackle whinge whinge whinge
The AFL CEO has come out and announced that they don’t do enough to encourage female and non binary umpires
We should also be well aware that a very large chunk of our female population find MMA totally abhorrent

So should it come as any surprise that a tackle that sees both players go to ground deemed as dangerous ?

Who funds the game? The broadcasters. "Keep people watching" is the dictate, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Can't be losing viewers/ratings. Outmatched underdogs are artificially kept in the (scoreboard) game, at least for the first half, and not just against us.

The first quarter not to bad, by the umpires.
Free against Tigga when he handballed about 8 minutes to go. Hard.
Should of been a free to Dusty before he hit the post?? Draper dropped the ball, simple call.
Both 50's against Shai and Grimey right.
Think it gets a bit worse in the second.

The 50 against Shai was there, he placed the ball on the ground. He has a habit of disregarding the whistle, umpire etc.

So on the sunday footy show they said the arc wasn't used on the dusty goal/behind because the crowd noise was too loud and they couldn't discern it from that.

The technology the AFL uses is crap - how would this work in a grand final?

So it’s only effective at North, GWS and Gold Coast games?

I don’t understand why our umpires escape criticism like protected species. Any other sport in the world they are held to account. We are precious.
That's the biggest issue.
Not highlighting there mistakes will always have them making the same mistakes.
We shouldn't turn up next week.
We wil get reamed

Lynch is sitting down getting ice strapped to his hammy and some 4th umpire peanut says he hadn't crossed the boundary through the interchange gate so he had to get up with a bag of ice hanging off his leg, walk 5cm onto the ground then back off through the interchange. FFS....looked happy about it too

That is a genuine welfare issue when a player is injured. Absolute joke.

The AFL don't want another Richmond Era, they like to share it around, there is a clear direction to the umpires to ensure Richmond are penalized for any indiscretion with extreme prejudice, call me a nutbag if you want, I believe they have been trying to stop the Tiger train since 2019, they didn't want Richmond to win in 2020 and they have gone even harder since 2021 with rule changes and extremely one sided umpiring decisions.
But they are fine with the Demons getting an easy draw year after year and having their game style dominate?

That’ll be TBR’s explanation for why Shai got pinged when he kicked the goal after the whistle and the 50 was paid. Apparently it’s ok for umps to have bias towards players but it never extends to teams….

I'm only watching the game now. Interesting instance in the first quarter. A bomber kicks the ball and it bounces a foot inside the boundary. Two Richmond players throw their hands up asking for an free for insufficient intent. No thought of a free against them of course. Why? Because sticking your arms out ISN'T dissent. Just illustrated to me how ridiculous this dissent rule is.

Goal review system is the worst idea since Rocky 5

Second, free against Cotch holding the man 14 minutes to go, hard.
Dangerous tackle against Grimey 12 minutes to go, gee, very hard, holding the ball every day of the week.
3 minutes to go Dion gets hit free, player reported and no 50, but if you don't stand on the mark 50, weird.
Tarrant goals. free against Tom, hard.

How does sound impact the ball possibly hitting a post?

yes this is happening.

we were clearly a 10 goal better side than essedrugs,

and Gil has clearly given broadcasters an undertaking to make marque games as pleasing to the viewer as possible.

Umps manipulated the contest by at least 30 points.

WTF was the Dusty goal review?

ump never signalled or said 'Hit the post'

review - no ball deviation, no sound, even the commentators didn't know what was being reviewed.

Dusty knew it went through.

then ump signals 'Hit the post'

when it didnt.

Can it get any more farcical?

*smile* off Gil. your a crook and you've *smile* our game.

*smile* off and administrate Polo.

Umpires do have a significant influence. Created more crowd fights than I have seen for many years, final booing proves respect is earned not forced, impact on scoreboard profound. Must be overhauled and a professional body established.
