We were close enough off to side of some of it, and it really rattled my young bloke and really did reduce his enjoyment of the night. It was disappointing and you could feel it building through the crowd all night

Terrible if a kid doesnt feel safe at the footy

Any read on what demographic/ what was fuelling it?

Alcohol without doubt fueled it. On top of that, as others have said, the tension within the ground was probably the most I've ever experienced at the footy in Australia and this frustration led to spot fires popping up as opposing fans took a more angered response to comments that would normally be made at the footy. Ie. the usual banter seemed to be taken not with jest in some cases but anger. I fully believe this was due to a mixture of alcohol and the overall frustration at the impact that the umpires were having on the game.

I sit in a mainly home section (reserved seat section) so it was mainly outside of our areas so I guess I didn't feel unsafe but I could imagine those (particularly with kids) might feel more unsafe in shared sections.

The Poshman has covered most of it… surprisingly not your general young yobbos, more middle age type operators. Was a mix of high tension game/umpires, alcohol and federal election results rolling in…. Was an odd feeling, even leaving the ground there was a bit of unease

When is it expected that a Tiger Museum will be back up and running?

Why has Rhett blocked comments?

I imagine he didnt want the racial hate that is endemic with black fellas doing anything good.

or bad.

or neutral.

I don't like to point out an inability to understand English but you seem to have trouble understanding what you yourself wrote.

You said "I think it's a point". Yeah, sorry, I call it a behind but I figured you could work that out for yourself, my bad.

Your whole post is all about questioning peoples' assessment of the incident, oh, except for the umpire of course.

You said "Goal Umpire standing on the spot" - what was that, a claim they could not be correct, or is it a claim that the umpire was there so correct? You can try and deny clearly obvious implied meaning but it won't wash with me.

If you want to see a fool, look in the mirror.

If we ever start a goldpost equivalent for irony that first line will be the first indictee.

"You said "I think it's a point". :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You've completely and utterly embarrassed yourself here and aren't even having the honour to own it.

what was with the reported violence at this game?

50 people kicked out?

Sam Edmund said that it's consistently the worst game of the year in terms of crowd violence, which I find staggering considering the theme of the night. If anything I would have thought the opposite.

This doesn't surprise me. It's the game that I've heard the most recent racist abuse at. An Essendon 'supporter' going after one of their own players.

F*ck me read your own post:

This thread never fails to disappoint.

Goal umpire standing on the spot: I think it's a point.

Preenders watching a few blurry replay on TV: *smile* cheat.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

While you're at it, answer my original question, on what basis do you agree with the umpire's decision? Were you there, did you see it or was it just supposition based on your inability to see fault in any umpiring decision?

Honour? What a joke you are, won't even back up what you said.

Not wanting to weigh in too much (and I could be wrong here), but I think BR's post is lacking quotation marks. He is surmising what the goal umpire was thinking...

Goal umpire standing on the spot: "I think it's a point"....thought the goal umpire.

DS and TBR we love what you both bring to PRE. Carry on...

I'm going to type this slowly in the hope it will help.

I don't agree with the umpire's decision. I never said I agreed with the umpire's decision. The entire point of my post was about the absurdity of posters who like me, were at home and watching completely inconclusive replays, having any opinion on if the decision was correct or not.

I've only been once, to Darwin. The Essendon supporters were nasty, angry, bitter.

Hardwick should say the following in the press conferences.

“Why do you ask me these questions? You know I’m not allowed to comment on umpiring decisions. I mean, I really want to comment on umpiring decisions. If I was allowed to I would be happy to tell you what I think about the umpiring decisions in the most unambiguous and strongest possible terms. But I’m not allowed to comment so don’t ask me.”
Dont forget to start "look, umpiring is a really difficult job, but ....."

There were no Essendon supporters near so I gave myself an uppercut when Shai's goal was taken off him

Rule of thumb is

If the decision is to Richmond's advantage then it is a correct decision
If the decision is not to Richmond's advantage then it was an incorrect decision and we need a full blown Royal commission like investigation into why Richmond is continually persecuted. It is irrelevant whether you are at the ground, at home or in Botswanna.
