Game Day - Geelong V Richmond

Great post. Another attack which could have ended as badly was Cameron coat hanger on Bolton, which led to Marlons intervention and to Cameron’s eye gouge response.
Following the. Dangerfield elbow early in the 2020 GF, (Vlastuin, Dion and Bolts). I think there is now an understanding that Geelong will sink to any depth.

Looking forward to September,
That's how they are coached ....from the top.

Our response to MRJ’s goal, which put us back in front was not premium.
With two minutes to play Bolton and Martin were left deep forward and Lynch moved to a wing.
Lynch seemed confused by the move and
Nank took the bounce…

Great effort to fight back I thought we were going to get flogged. Top games by Nank, Pickett, Baker, Tarrant, Rioli, Grimes.
Critical defensive errors were costly again. Eg. In the last qtr a marking contest on the hbf with Cats in attack, 3 tigers went up and instead of thumping it towards our goal, someone did a big clearing punch towards Cats end resulting in a goal. Who did that? Even juniors are taught not to defend like that.

Chin up boy's and girls hard loss to take , but we need to push forward hopefully gives the boys more ammunition to keep kicking on and doesn't have a opposite affect. We need to get Cotch ,Balta ,Lambert ,Prestia back on the ground injuries will be the reason that will stop us this year I fear that. Cats through everything at this game if that's the best they got they don't fear me one bit I'm positive after that game.

Gibcus needs a rest understandably get Miller in and if Cumberland or Stack perform tomorrow one replaces Clarke who's had a taste.

Just re-watched the last quarter. We didn't do a lot wrong. Most of Geelong goals in last were a consequence of them rolling the dice through the midfield and winning a couple of crucial 50-50's. The fightback took its toll as did the loss of Prestia on our run and rotations. Couple of uncharacteristic Rioli errors for example - you could see him cramping up.
Hard loss to take but I think in many ways our best performance of the year. Gone are the cheap frees and 50's that plagued us against the Swans. Our upward momentum is defintely continuing and we found a couple of extra strings to our bow. Baker was supeb in the middle. Pickett amazing 2nd half (Wish he had pinned the ears back and had a couple of pings from 45 out when he was clear in the 3rd q). Nank a collusus, Tarrant played his best game as a tiger and Ross easily his best game and this may prove to be the most important 'find'. On the negative I think Gibcus and Clark need a rest. Would still prefer to see Stack over Clark and I think Gibcus has lost his way a bit - maybe a week or two to reset (he probably needs Balta back there, so that he gets the 3rd tall). Not sure about Ralph-Smith - couple of bad fumbles in the second but a huge intercept and goal in the third. Probably get back Lambert, Prestia, Cotchin for GC game.

I liked the HRS for Soldo move but Soldo as the sub - probably cost us the game.

We can win the last 8 from here if that is the standard we play (minus the slow start).

I'm certain they didn't because once you call for the stretcher it has to be used, it's part of the rules so there can't be a oh hang on he's better type use of it to slow the game down . Assuming he was conscious and able to stand then they will always walk him off.
This is exactly what I thought but I think it was a massive miss-step. They should definitely have called for the gurney. He was clearly out of it. I also don't understand the general reticence to call for the stretcher, why walk a player off who you know won't play on? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Prestia doesn't get knocked out, we win.

Roles reversed, Prestia knocks Stewart out, we win by 10 goals

Cotchin has been more durable than I expected. Good enough to go around another year. Lambert and Prestia are injury prone and we have to be able to win without them. Although Dion has played 11 so not too bad. Plus this injury is concussion not the usual hammy. Balta is the injury prone one now. After WCE having a win, I wonder if selectors will stick with Gibcus, Clarke and HRS. Or go with Miller, Stack & ?? . I really hope we go with Stack over Clarke but I've got a feeling Clarke and HRS are first 22

Stretcher ? ... its 2022, and Im pretty sure there are Golf Carts available at every ground to get players off the ground QUICKLY to be properly attended too. If NOT, I'd be asking WHY NOT Dil, you imbecile.
When was the last time a stretcher or golf cart was used to get an injured player off the ground?

Not quite how it happened but you are right that it was less than premium.
Caesar also posted on this.

We were on that wing.
Lynch went towards the interchange to sort of seek their approval that he needed to get back to the defence to shore up our defence. He then told Marlion to go forward. Not sure what the bench told him but Lynch ended up in Marlion's position staying on the wing.

I think you take that stuff with a grain of salt, footy supporters aren't the most rational people when it comes to their own side.
I'll have to take your word on that. The only forum I read is PRE so don't really see that irrational side.

I love Gibcus. I think, based on the last 2 weeks, he does need a rest. And Miller should break even against Josh's output?

We get 17 points up in last and we get the next clearance. M Rioli gets ball on forward flank and has nank and short open. He misses the kick just slightly and Nank and Short mess it up. It falls to ground and Nank doesn’t bend to pick up to handpass to short but kicks it off the ground. Geelong get the loose ball and race it down other end for goal.
That turned the momentum.
We couldn’t buy a free in front of goal. Twice in the 3rd Baker could have got a high one in front of goal. They get a gift to Miers.
We don’t get the 50 for push after mark they do. Hawkins moves on mark not once but twice no 50.

Watched the replay until last 10 minutes can’t watch the rest. A less deserving victory I can’t recall.

Reminds me of 2017 when we lost a succession of close ones where we were robbed. Let’s hope the climax is the same.

Pussies got a lot of help from umps looking to kill our momentum by giving them easy frees and it worked

Are your eyes painted on? He lined him up him up and took him out. It won them the game.
Body checking gone wrong??
disingenuous and deliberately provocative posting. A new level for TBR.

17 points up in the last qtr is a game in our keeping imo snake.

Its disappointing but we should win from there. Not underselling the effort to get to that point, it was mighty.

I think it’s just having lost several games from that position this year that’s the most frustrating
Agree.
Haven't seen one bit of game (work)
But my workmate and i listened.
On radio, when 11 then 17 up they said there was no way we could lose and would be a 5 goal win.

They were shocked that we stopped the last 8mins.

But as others have said, out of gas.
