Buggered if I know whats going on at the Adelaide Crows

It surprises me how often clubs hand over the welfare of their most important asset, the players, to unqualified carpetbaggers pushing untried therapies and treatments that ultimate do more harm than good.

We saw it with Essendon and the supplements saga, Adelaide and their infamous camp plus who knows what else has gone on at clubs that is so far unreported.

Player welfare needs to come first.

Also, Ricciutto is an absolute *smile*.

Agree. It happened at my previous job 18 months ago and now some are working elsewhere or unemployed.

The Crows have simply covered up and let this pass by.

Worksafe as well Gil and his mates at the AFL would have also been made aware.
Can only assume Eddie would, if asked, have made statements to both.

Assuming the accuracy of Eddie's claims, can't help but feel great sympathy for both he and his family, and coming out now after nearly 5 years,-that this stinks of racism and cover up.

(In not dissimilar circumstances,Collingwood at least had the fortitude to organise an open inquiry even though they faced a pending civil suit bought by HL).
In this instance there should also be a full and independent inquiry as to what occurred.

Current prez said there's still a dozen players from that time in the team. Huge can of worms coming up.

What they describe is astounding. How that is supposed to build leadership I don't know. By contrast Richmond let the players tell each other about their lives which gives the players agency in deciding what they are comfortable revealing.

One can only assume the leadership exercises on this camp were just dreamed up and are based on no research or evidence at all, sure as hell sounds like it. I've been to a few bits and pieces at work over the years and they are especially laughable when the exercises are the same as I was taught to do in Primary Teacher training. This sort of stuff is a con.

Nailed it TF. Carpet baggers is spot on. The thing that amazes me is that the acts they did are pretty extreme, but there is no scientific evidence that any of it works. Its all pseudoscience crap.

Wasn't there some defamation court case about this?

This part should concern authorities shouldn’t it?
”When the time came for Betts to be “initiated”, he says he was again informed that it would make him a man. He was put into a body harness with a rope attached and told to try and fight his way towards a knife to cut himself free while teammates holding the rope physically obstructed him.”
Sounds particularly dangerous. Someone suspended, with a knife , trying to cut himself free. I assume there would be wriggling and a lot of unstable and unpredictable movements, and people around him physically obstructing him. Sounds like a recipe for a big tragic disaster happening with one slip up

I think the really concerning thing is how Work Safe SA, the AFL and the Crows actually ticked this off as being ok. It clearly isn't acceptable in this day and age.

As an aside during lockdown Eddie Betts would have a kick most nights at a local oval near me with his own kids. There would probably have been around 50 or so local kids joining in most nights. He always took extra time to talk to all the kids and gave them tips on how to kick snap goals. I am sure for most of those kids it would have been the highlight of their day during that time. He wasn't doing it for any other reason than to give back to the community. It never got any publicity it was just him doing his bit to help these kids out during a difficult time.

The Gestapo Football League has no plans to re-open this investigation as mentioned on Ch 7 news. Amazing.

Just concentrate on raping Richmond.

Ricciuto should step down as the Football Director. His response on Adelaide radio today was dribble.

————————————————————
There are plenty of Adelaide supporters that want Ricciuto gone, waiting.

Be interesting to know just how much detail of what was planned for the camp was known by Ricciuto, Pyke and Birdman.

Simply a cover up by all concerned in a city where the Adelaide FC has relative to other clubs, say in Victoria, a disproportionate degree of political influence.
Nothing changes because officials move on. Or because Eddie left for Carlton. On its face it is evidence of racism and intimidation within the States most popular sporting club.
This will not be cleared up, and nor will the AFL’s failure to step in, until an independent inquiry is established.

Now I'm thinking back to an interview with Rory Sloane earlier in the year where he defended the camp and said it made him a better husband and father.
People can convince themselves of anything. There's people that drink their own urine and swear by it.

Lolz. First we destroyed them on the footy field. Now Edward does it again in a chapter. Loving this *smile*.

Eddie tonight on Fox speaking of the AFL…
“I told them everything.. Nothing was done.”
Don’t excuse this. It is just deplorable.

Gill gave the broom another good workout.
Is there a more corrupt sporting organisation in Australia then the AFL?
